Thread: Looking for Master Pilot Input on a couple of things.
2. POB ships are a lot of fun, but in general you're better off in a group of one-player ships. I love my Decemator, and I find the Nova to be absolutely beautiful. The YT is nice, too, but I have to put it lower on my list simply because nothing specifically draws me to it. If you just want to go out and shoot some stuff with your friends, POB ships are great. For PvP, though, they're pretty much floating coffins. They're just too big.

Okay, I am about to triple master (I am alliance ace already and about to master cor sec and Storm...just gotta do the exits and master missions). Obviously this is on three different characters. Anyway, 2 questions.

I though you could only master one pilot faction/squadron at a time....?
he has 3 toons
Agreed on the chips. I personally throw in a bit of "front to rear shield" action if I have roon in the FC/Astro. otherwise, all the 3's works wonder for me. Possibly light rear reinforcement (or front if you;re doing death runs an a SD
).
No real comment on POBs since I don't really get into that.

actuallt PoB ships can be the biggest foe in PvP as long as the pilot and gunners are aware of the enemy.
I'll expand on this a bit. There arethree main things that you need to have to be viable in PvP with a POB ship.
1. Good gunners. people that can not only hit what they shoot at but people that can asess the situation and respond at the point of greatest benefit.
2. Good pilot. You need to be able to put that ship into a position that your gunners can be the most effective and still be able to get off the occational missile shot.
pre, post CU it don't matter, there still the same oldships. the only POB i have a beef with is the Y-8, that thing is a beast to fly,the layoutis more for a captian andco-pilot and helms man not pilot, co-pilot. you can't see very much when in the pilot seat. the VT-49 not whats a ship, i'v had hours of fun in that thing. been on a YT-1300 it was cool, i'll deffinetly get one when i go freelance and i never been on a NOVA.
i'v taken up many people in the VT and all had a good time.
If you are in deepspace (and therefore get the credit and decay free repairs) you can do better than the level 3 overloads...except for weapon overload 3 (but keep that on the DL from the devs).
This is the order I run my programs in:
- Weapon Overload 3
- Reactor Overload 4
- Engine Overload 4
- Capicitor Overload 4
And of course Cap to Shield Shunt as needed. After running reactor overload 4 I've never had any problems running engine and cap overload 4. If you do, you might need a bigger reactor or an engine with less energy requirements.
