Is the Decimator a decent ship PVE? PVP? How many imperials fly it?

I am looking through my master certs, and I am not impressed about the ships available as an imperial. The oppressor is okay.... but I think I would opt for the firespray instead (cept for that 10 million credit price tag). Can a well crewed POB ship handle it in PVP.

I would love to have that Imperial GB. The one with 7 guns on it? Like in Kessel.

Well for PvE with the new elite parts it can hold it's own. How many people fly it all depends on how much combat your expecting to face. I can fly then park my YT-1300 and solo fight static spawns from a turret. However if you want to fly and fight at the same time then the absolute minimum is one other person besides you, so they can man a turret while you fly. The optimal crew is yourself plusfour other people. While you fly, one person mans ops for droid commands, one person runs around repairing damage, and two people to man the turrets.

I call the minimum combat crew as three. One pilot, two gunners. I usually assign a single gunner to run droid commands from his turret. (Yes, you can run droid commands from a turret.) If we take internal damage, I boost away from a fight while one of the gunners jumps out of his turret and repairs the damage.

Besides, a crew of three makes fights far more exciting.

so is this ship effective in PVP? Even with an experienced crew at the helm, and the turrets?

Actually, it sounds like great fun to take up around the Avatar.

dunno about the deci, but a fully loaded Y8 if it was possible to bring all guns to bear on a single target using the new pob toys could do around 75k in the first volley depending on the hardware.

With the new parts, the shields and armor can take quite a few direct hits - shield shunt 3/4. The armor is good and will take two hits. A few of the better built ships can outrun fighters. The turrets can one-shot any fighter. 1-1 the Deci wins. 2-1 or 3-1, it depends on pilot and gunner quality. 4-1, the Deci had better jet.

I have been up agaisnt a tricked out deci in DS. I'm flying a tricked out Krayt loaded for bear with a JSF escort, both ace pilots. Ace in the deci, with 2 good-ace gunners. Could not take this thing down unless it turned to fight us, with the 130 top speed engine and 70 speed boosters, it was kite city. Dodge/spiral in, all I could get is one good strafe on the deci, taking down shields to 50-55%. One hit from her guns dropped me like a fly though; new one for me in the school bus. JSF could weave and avoid the turrets fairly well, but not enough guns to do anything but give a reason for the shield shunt. Then she would just boost and kite us. Didn't try epulse, wanted to keep the pilot around and see what the new POB's had in them...very tough, very fast. If she turned to fight us, and we used JSF for cover fire, we could drop her rather readily though.
