Thread: This is how i would Fix jtl how would you?
1. All pilots can get the chip, and run the same program. I don't think it is unbalanced if we all use them.
2. I don't know about decreasing mass, but bumping them to master wouldnt be bad. You just have to remember, I know lots of people that have these ships, but don't know how to use them. These ships in the hands of a good pilot become lethal, which comes back to the master pilot. People scream nerf, but the odds are those same pilots would beat you in another ship. I know plenty of aces in awings that can tear me up, and Im pretty damn good. Dogfighting is skill first. When people get beat, they blame their lack of skill on the other person's equiptment. "I would of beat you if you didn't have (insert ship here)" Some people are just going to be better than you or me.
3. *shrug* I don't really have a problem with them. Then again, I have a few aces.
4. I don't have a problem with that, but others might.
All in all, yes, something has to be done to make anything but a quest ship worth it. How do we do it? I don't know. I'm going to think about it and post again.
Look at Weapon overload 3 in this way. First off what does it do? Right now it increases firepower, reactor drain, andreduces energy per shot. Whats is supposed to do? Increase firepower, increase reactor drain, and increase energy per shot. How is this a problem if everyone can use it?
First off ships can get off using much smaller reactors and much smaller capacitors. Now with this extra mass saved from the first they can put on much larger guns. PVP not so much an issues. PVE big issue the game isnt set up for you to fire without worring about your cap running out.
This also effects how well you can survive. Running WO3 your cap never runs out of power even on a 3 gun ship. Leaving you with loads of energy for Cap shunts. Again on PVP not much of an issue and again in PVE big issue. For kicks run WO2 or WO4 on your ship and see how its supposed to be. Even running Cap overload 4 you will find yourself draining your cap. IF and when WO3 ever gets fixed people are gonna be in for a rude awakening the difficulty of the game will jump quite a bit. Back to were it should be.
Tal'set
better get used to that kind of opinion. the second the devs announce WO3's fix there's going to be hundreds of people complaining crawling out of the woodwork.
not imbalancing? it's the single most imbalancing bug in JTL atm, enabling people to essentially get off scott free with tiny level 1 reactors and level 2 capacitors and squeeze much more firepower (or whatever) into the ship.
Actis/Grevious need to be fully balanced. Not nearly balanced. Cut the mass and PYR, give them specialist roles that fit into slots around the A-wing/Dunelizard/TIE interceptor/Khirakxz (the 40k mass one, i think I got the right name). Maybe make the Actis an inbetween between the Khi and the TIE interceptor. The Grevious could fit a role between either the A-wing/TIE-Adv and the Dunelizard, or the Duney and the X-wing.
Heavy varients need to be just that. Heavy. Beefed out versions of the huge-YPR, tiny mass starter ships. Personally I think they could be just lighter than a Khiraxz, with slighty higher YPR. But of course, that's all up for debate. Just as long as ROTW ships are given balanced roles within the different starfighters.
The Heavy X should fit between the X-wing and the Y-wing, imo. Slightly lower YPR, but maybe 20k more mass or so. Not really knowledgeable about the other factions selections of heavier ships to make a balanced judgement myself.
Basically, WO3 is a bug. Bugs need to be fixed.
ROTW ships shouldn't be Alpha ships or Space Composite. They should help to fill spots between the pre-ROTW ships, and add a bit more flavour into the mix.
This is not nerfing. It is balancing. Balancing needs to be done to keep a game fun and challenging. 'Wtfpwnz0ring' everything in-game with an overpowered Jedi Starfighter isn't that. Being able to fit everything you need into a tiny, super-manuverable craft without having the excitement of working within limitations isn't fun.

The point isn't balance between pilots, it's balance between SHIPS. The bugged WO3 currently gives the small fighters a large advantage over the heavier fighters. If WO3 worked correctly, small starfighters wouldn't be able to get away with packing tiny, light reactors and capacitors in their ships and still have really big firepower. The fact that you can have that big firepower on a small ship means you're that much less likely to fly a heavier ship. The light fighters can exploit the WO3 bug to have firepower nearly as good as the heavy fighters while keeping the advantage of quickness and small hitboxes.
Elegantly written, right-on-the-mark response. If the star system were still in, you'd have five of the little things right about now.
