Thread: Decay of components

Hi,

I was wondering what the possibilities are to make sure your components of your ship don't decay.

I know you just have to make a trip to deepspace, and hyperjump out of it to get a full repair without decay,

but what if your chip got blown to pieces. Then there's no way you can make the trip to the deepspace station (unless you have the /vrepair command, but only rebel pilots have that).

So if your ship gets blown to pieces, how can you get everything repaired without decay ?

thx

as long as your engine works you should be able to make it to DS but it doesn't... well, just be prepard to accept the decay.

it should set you nearby a station, if you cannot vrepair, land, load a different engine in your ship, then launch and hit DS

not sure how to repair the engine you removed, other than perhaps pay a trustworth reb friend to vrepair it for ya

You can also use the RepairA Little Bit option a couple times until you are able to go to Deep Space. That will minimize the decay, though it won't eliminate it. Best bet is to set up an escape macro to hyper out when it looks like things are going to go bad, unless it's a PvP situation, wheredeath is only 1-2 hits away.

hmm when you use a ship repair tool, can you decide how much you wanna repair ?

Do the minimal repair, then limp to DS. I've had to do it from Kashyyyk after tangling with those gunboats, its no fun, but better than all out murder on your components.

Nope. And to verify last night I used a repair tool to repair some armor with >10 pts armor/hp damage and it caused decay.

So to prevent decay of other components, always carry an extra reactor and engine with you so you can limp to Deep Space if the ones you have are trashed. Fixing the engine if it's at 0 is the real problem.
