Thread: Can the Vaksai quest be done without ant GB spawning?

I tried to find the answer in previous posts, but only could find definitive answers dor imp and rebel ships, not the freelance one.

I know that if you wait enough (5km from destination point) before disabling the corvette, you have a fair chance of no GB showing up.

But WHAT is the destination point of the vaksai corvette? Yesterday I wait till the vette was 5km from the Kashyyyk station and the BG still showed up (and vaped me, but I am pretty bad pilot)

Thanks.

yes, you can. But you have ti wait a bit more the vette will hyperjump when it is 4600m form the station if you dissable it at 4700 or so the GB will not spawn and if it does just forget it the vette will jump in no time.

I have noticed in doing this mission that the corvette in Kashyyyk is much easier to disable than the Kessel vettes. However, I personally haven't done it solo and was wondering if you can disable it by just targetting the engines first thing? And while I am asking, when I did the kessel corvette, I followed the whole bottom weapon, gunboats, other weapons, shields, engine, etc technique. Can you go straight for the engines there too?

It's the exact same vette.

And you'll need to go shields and secondary shields before you can get to the engines. I usually only off weapon 5, then knock out the shields from below and to the sides. When those are done fall back 1200m and follow the vette until it's close to the exit point (stay back in case it buckles or turns - and it will!). Swoop in and blow the engines.

One trick to this mission if the gunboats show up is that you can take a shot at each of the gunboats so they are coming after you instead of the vette. Then fly to the Kashyyyk station and hide in one of the back corners of the landing bay there and the gunboats will be unable to hit you. I call this the yellow bellied chicken method. LOL

Ive actualy noticed that the fighters kill the vette more than the GBs. If you get close enough to the station and the GBs still show up avoid them like the plauge and kill the fighters. I think the biggest difference between the kessel and the Kashyyyk vette's is that one is neutral so you get time to get close and take off gun 5 in one pass. The other is hostile and gun 5 and the GB escort start shooting at you right away. Last time I basicaly disabled it solo so others could kill it. 3 or 4 level 3 proton torps to each shield gennerator and 3 more to the engines will stop the kessel vette dead. (have a vendor who makes them in racks of 15) If you have the mass use space bombs.

I managed to do this mission with only one gunboat spawning right at the end. Vette disappeared and mission was complete right after it jumped in.

Sadly I let my guard down and the gunboat nailed me. But i didn't care since the mission was completed.

I dont know about not making the spawn, but if you just disable gun 5 and leave the other in good condition, you can simple fight off the fighter your self then sit back and let the vette tank the gun boats. When i got my vaksai i was about 3km out form the station when i lost my engine. i iff'd and sat there while by vette just tanked em till it jumped away.

The easy (and arguably less challenging) way to do these missions is to go fight off the fighters around the vette (it won't be aggro to you unless you or someone in your group shoots it), then follow it until you're below 5500m from the station (I get scared by the jump timer ticking away letting it get under 5k). If you hide behind the engines and take out the shield and secondary shields with missiles you canshoot out the engine and wait for it to be disabled without killing any guns. Stay hiddenby the engines as it will shoot at you some before it is disabled/captured.

This will leave the vette with guns on all sides and if you can keep the fightersoff the gunboats won't be able to kill it before it jumps. It seems if you disable it before 5500m you'll get 2 more gunboats, but if you stop it at 5k you'll only get one at the end. Either way just avoud them and kill the fighters. The boats won't hurt the vette much and you haven't left it exposed by taking out gun 5.

A cheater way to do it is to get in a group with someone who has done it and go get the mission, then wait at the station while your friend brings the vette in and defends it. The gunboats seem to target the person with the mission first in my experience, so as soon as the vette jumps out talk to the station for your reward.
