OK so I'm running thru the Black Epsilon Imperial pilot process. Tier 2 missions all seem to run where you have to battle two to four tier 2 ships and an occasional tier 3, even the duty missions seem to run this way and with some skillful flying you can get through them in pretty good shape.
I began the Tier 3 missions this weekendand was surprised at how much more challenging they are. I figured it would be a bit challenging but
My first mission, I fly into a hornet's nest of approximatelysix to eight (maybe more?)tier 3 ships I haveto defeat and one tier 4 which I am suppose to disable and dock with. Needless to say my TIE/INFighter took quite a bit of damage but I was able to successfully complete this phase of it. Then I go to the second phase of this first missionto deliver what I grabbed from the tier 4 ship and realized my big mistake of not repairing my ship before I get to the waypoint and within a few minutes I get toasted by another swarm of tier 3s.... Arghh!
All I can say is if you're getting ready to move on from 2222 pilot to tier 3 be prepared and ready to kick it up a couple of notches!
Maybe find afriend to come along.

Just try to hold out until you have a fighter that can sport a shield. I don't know how you imps do it unshieldedLOL.

I think that the bump in difficulty is more than offset by the bump that you get when you train xxx3. Droid commands for the win.
If you arent using them, there is a great guide on droid commands here: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=pilot&message.id=71224#M71224
Droid commands are necessary, and props to Nesanya on the great guide.

I thought shields are only useable in fighters certed T3 and up for imps. Ummmmmmmmm. Either a mistake or my biggest Noob moment in since the launch of JTL.

I would atribute this noob moment to the fact you are probably just used to seeing all npc tie fighters with no shields.
Even the t5 npc tie fighters do not use shields for some odd reason. but all imp player ships will use shields.
I had a character on annother server went imp piot with, I was worried at first i wouldnt be able to use shields, but i was. made me very happy.
