I've been thinking of purchasing a Jedi Starfighter, but I have a question before I do so.
The ship, of course, you get through a quest and can be traded to other players. However, I was told that you had to complete the quest to actually pilot the ship. Is this true? This would really make no sense seeing as this quest is an Imperial-only quest, and yet every pilot profession has certifaction to fly it.
But I just want to know this before I got out and buy one.

Which makes you wonder WHY they bothered making it tradable. If you have to do the quest to fly it, you're already going to have one. If you don't do the quest, you can't use it. So what exactly is the point of trading it?

Well... that sucks. What's with giving everyone certification if you have to be Imperial to do the quest? Then you have to do the quest to pilot it... so you have to be Imperial to pilot it. Yeesh... the Devs need to think these things out better.

Giving the cert to everyone is so that if you switch factions, you can still fly the quest ship you got before.

Hmm... I've never thought of the Devs as supporters of switching factions. And besides, why let them be tradeable if you have to do the quest? So someone can have two Jedi Starfighters?
I don't know... this is just one of the many things the Devs didn't think out clearly.

Hmm... well, how about the Grevious' Fighter? Do you have to do the quest to pilot that too?

One reason they made it tradeable is so that a nonpilot (as in uses JtL for travel) imperial could do the quest, get the deed and sell it to a pilot.
PS this would be a great way to get replacement ships down the line, just help entice them by offering to complete the space mission for them so they get the 3000fp from Vader too.

But it sounds like you have to do the quest to pilot it. So even if the person who did the quest sold it to another person, the other person couldn't pilot it unless they did the quest. ANd if they did the quest, they'd have the starfighter for free...

Let me clarify. Sell it to a pilot who had done the quest and needed a new JSF due to decay.
