Thread: Is ROTW worth it?

I am seriously thinking about buying ROTW.

My pilot is a non combatant on the ground and I need to know if there is enough content in space to justify this purchase.

I may eventually decide to go ground combat, but space is where I really enjoy myself.

As most old ships are outclassed by ROTW ships and there is plenty of new content in it I'd say it most definietly worths it. (The ground content worths it too.) As you have to buy it once and you pay the monthly fee anyway I see no reason not to buy it, but it's only my 20 cents.

I'd say it's worth it. The 3 extra ship slots alone are worth it (I think you still only get those with some kind of ROTW purchase....) and the new ships are cool too.

As far as ground content, Kashyyk is beutiful, but I never go there unless I have too because of the invisible walls.

Problem is, a lot of the new space stuff requires a good deal of ground-based combat to attain. So your non-combatant toon will need to group up or make some other kind of arrangements to get some of the good rewards.

I'd say that Kashyyk is a great planet, the ships are fantastic, and as a bonus (DO NOT BUY DIGITAL DOWNLOAD!!!) you can purchase the Total Experience and get a BARC speeder and a month of free service for the cost of $25, not bad for an expansion IMHO.

Isn't that the same price as the download?

Yeah, the digital download is 24.99 and the total expierience from stores is 29.99 but you get ALL the cds for the expansions including the combat upgrade on cd so if you ever have to reinstall you only have a short download to get back into playing live.

When it comes to money, that is a personal choice. The new heavy versions (Crimson Tie, Heavy X, and the Neutral heavy) are really fun missions, quite challenging. They require no ground skills at all. The JSF and ARC are a little tougher and would require some grouping. The greivous you can obtain thru your trade forums, and I don't think you even need RotW to fly it (could be wrong on that one). I know for a fact that you do not need RotW for the new heavy novice craft. But, mostly, if your not into the ground game, there isn't much for you to do with RotW. Although, I do think its a great expansion, and you can really spend alot of time there doing all the cool things.

It is my understanding that Total Experience only works for brand new accounts; i.e. you can't use it on your established account, or give the BARC to your established account. Is this correct?

Not sure about using the Total exp for an existing account but you CAN trade te BARC speeder to your main account. or whomever you choose.

You can use the key from the Total Experience to upgrade to RotW, but you will NOT get the BARC speeder unless you create an entirely new account.

Basically:
Use the Total Experience to create a new account (which IS RotW enabled) and get the BARC speeder and 6 ship slots.

OR

Use the Total Experience to upgrade an existing account to RotW, get the 6 ship slots and NO BARC speeder.
