Ok,currently I am only imp pilot 1100. This sucks, I know. Well, I am trying to the Clones of Fett mission for the DC15 rifle, and the first part is to catch a guy in space. He allways starts out 7k away, and my prototype that I recieved for free can't catch him before he makes the jump to hyperspace.
So, I purchased a TIE Fighter (the lvl 1 certification one 1xxx), and need to put some parts into it but dont know where to start?
Im primarily focused on speed (my proto topped at 500), and then some decent lasers so that I can disable his ship.
A) What are some good lvl 1-3 parts I could use for this? There are so many, I don't know where to begin.
B) Does JTL take into consideration the overall mass of my vessel? I mean, should i get every component I can? Or will that just slow me down?
C) Boosters?
D) any other tips?
Either way, i plan on lvling a bit, but can't do it with my current ship very well.
I appreciate any input on picking parts!
Thx in advance!

1. You'll want a good level 2 engine, preferable RE'd (that's reverse engineered). You should be looking for something with a speed in the mid 60's and PYR in the mid to high 50's or higher. Find a good level 2 booster, preferable with comsumption in the 130's and speed around 24 (if I remember right). Find a good level 3 weapon, lvl 2 capacitor (energy above 900, recharge in the mid to high 30's), and have everything else fit for your low mass. Also, if you can find a good shipwright to help you then you might be able to get a Heavy TIE, then mass will not be an issue. If you cannot catch up to this guy after that then you will want to think about leveling up some more to make your ship better.
2. JTL does not take a ships mass into consideration when figuring the speed of the vessel. Speed and PYR modifiers are determined by the chassis type of the ship, and then the stats of the engine. This was done to give each ship it's own unique feel so that a Y-Wing could never out manuever and A-Wing with the same engines, etc.
3. Boosters: yes, always try to get a decent speed, high energy and low consumption (so it burns longer) and preferably a high recharge rate (so you can use it again sooner).

GET A HEAVY TIE!!!! I got one for my alt and I LOVE it. You won't need another ship for a long, long time.

id try to grind up a little more, too....if you're only 1100, even if you catch him you likely wont be able to do anything about it

Drop imperial pilot and join the Alliance while you still can. Thats the only advice that I can give to someone that wants to sit in a TIE fighter.

Its kinda hard to say xxx part is gonna be better than yyy part. Two same parts in space are gonna drop with different stats. One could be good, one could be crap. It's just like searching the bazzar for a new gun. Some parts will tend to drop with lower mass, where some parts will tend to drop with higher mass but better recharge or refire rates..... Its just random. I don't think anyone has taken the time to really search the typical ranges for every part. It would be overwhelming.
You just have to look at the parts and decide for you self which parts are good based on those stats. Check the bazzar for RE parts or Crafted parts. At lower levels the crafted parts tend to be in good compitition with the RE parts. At higher levels that gets to be more of an oppinion than anything.
Best advice I can give you..... Make friends with a Shipwright.

Nope, just hit the " \ " key till you cycle to his engines. Blast away and you'll disable him.

It depends on the keyboard you use. Anyways it is wise to bind it to a jostick button as long as disabling opponents is done regularly.
Another advice: get a flight computer with the highest level reactor/engine overloads you might fit in it. You will need to buy these programs in programmed droid chips or ask higher tier imperial (EO) and neutral (RO) pilots to program them.

When I did the quest, the goal was to follow him until an ambush spawns, and blast the ships in the ambush. They leave behind your next clue in the investigation. Either that or my memory is full of holes.
