Thread: Rank and JTL

Before JTL was even in beta, the devs mentioned that they intended to make rank meaningful to a pilot (ie your rank would determine what ships you were allowed to fly). Anyone know what happened to the idea. Did the scrap it completely?

ummmmmm...

that is the case. how far along in pilot you are determines what ships and components your certified to fly

What I meant was factional rank.

okay, well in order to get faction points in space, you need to be declared, and your right there are no faction perks for space

basically you have 2 ranks in space cadet then pilot officer your army rank has no bearing on your space navy rank.

I'm really bad at explaining things I guess.

What I meant was at one time they said your ground factional rank would have some usefulness with Jump to Lightspeed, ie you would have access to more/better ships or something in that vein.

For example, heres an old post where someone was selling Rebel faction before JTL, as it was said rank would have some meaning in the future (sorry don't know how to make it clicky)

But there's nothing in there from any Dev/Cor that says Faction Rank would play a part, just what some player incorrectly assumed would be the case.

I remember having read about that a few weeks before JTL was released too. And that was in an official announcement. That's why I ranked my char up to Colonel and gathered as many fp as I could. It really sucks that there is no benefit from that now that the expansion is out.

Thanks for reminding us of that issue, I had almost forgotten about it.

Anyway, looks like the Devs have decided to completely seperate space and ground faction, the only link is that you can't become anpilot of your opposing faction. Oh and you can gain fp in space, but that's about it ...

I hope navy faction rank can be implemented depends on your tier skill, not by earning Faction Points. It's odd a corporal flying B-Wing master ship.

i don't think that rank should effect piloting rank, i mean first off there aren't enough ships, and if person A is a Colonel and person B is a coporal, but the coporal spends 8hrs in space and the Colonel only 2 then why should the colonel be a better person for space?

simply put ground and space are and should be kept pretty seperate outside of crafting and such. while i think a cool idea might be more options for decals for higher ranks or something purely visual like that would be acceptable, the idea of ground rank being able to determine your space worthiness is kind of just blah

Yes there was mention of a factional rank bonus long before JTL was released, but it never transpired. I remember it because all of our guild went hell for leather getting factional promotions.

I think JTL rank should be separated from Ground rank. There for it suppose to be a navy rank. And a pilot suppose to start with ensign (starting rank for navy officer).
