I'd shoot a space bomb at SOE/LA but they are immune like the Reb Base.

Best grind spot for me is to hit Kessel and just fly around. Good xp and loot drops.

If you're Imp, you go to the Imperial Claw station in Endor space, then /comm it. Instead of asking if you want to go overt, it will give you the choice of Deep Space (Master level PvP) or Kessel.

From the FAQ:

Q: How do I get faction points in space?

A: You are able to gain faction points by going overt at one of your factionally aligned stations in space. You can go covert by death or by landing. There are 2 types of factional stations. The first allows you to go overt usually named "Imperial I, II" or "Rebel I, II" you can find them in the system maps (use N in space). The second ones are for transport to Deep Space and Kessel. You can gain faction points in space while being "on-leave" for ground status.
Privateer: You are able to gain faction by declaring at a Rebel or Imperial Stations. And can gain faction points anywhere except Deep Space. Why not Deep Space?

As an overt Imperial or Rebel you do not have any Imp/Reb Prestige to gain entry to deep space using the Factional deep space stations
The Last Nav Station in Dathomir will NOT talk to you as a Rebel or Imperial overt
You can access Kessel by using the factional "Deep Space" space stations in Dantooine space for Rebel or Endor space for Imperial.
You can only use the factional "Deep Space - Kessel jump" stations when space overt.

So you can access Kessel from Claw Station.

If you're looking for good xp in Kessel and you're not hard up about faction points. Go there undeclared and head for the nebulas. Those Corsair Kimogila heavy fighters are about the EASIEST xp you'll find in the system. Their X-Wing escorts are pretty cheesy too, just be careful of the ones that fly in tight wing pairs, they're a little rough till one goes down.

Unless I am doing something wrong, this is not the case. Just flew to Claw Station. Quote: "Sign up with the Empire and we'll talk."

I can't seem to get to Kessel unless I am declared in space, and I can't seem to delcare in space if I am neutral on the ground.

Am I not doing things properly, or am I misinterpreting this portion of the FAQ?

I am an RSF Master and did alot of my grinding about 4k from the Red Sin Chimaera hyper point in Endor. There's a static Tier 3 Pirate spawn there and a Tier 4 Black Sun spawn there as well. I'm not in game right now, but when I log in I'll post the waypoints.
