Thread: Jotstick/throttle problem

I got a new joystick and throttle. But only the jotstick worked. I went into the games option (at launch window) but I could only activate the stick or throttle. Is there a way to be able to use both. I can use both in my flight sims so I know it's not a software or hardware problem.

Thanks

This might be a dumb question, but have you tried to make sure that your speed adjust is keymapped to the joystick throttle?
My joystick becomes uninstalled for SWG every few days, and requires reinstallation, even though windows claims it's working fine.

How do I keymap my speed adjust to my throttle?

Thanks

Okay, there's a couple of possibilities here.

1. JTL only recognizes one control device. Check under the "Game Controllers" section of your Windows Control panel. If you see one entry that includes both your joystick and throttle (something like a 4 button/3 axis controller) continue on. If you have two entries, one for your joystick and one for your throttle, then that's your problem right there. Depending on what brand of controllers you bought, you may be able to program them to function as one logical device.

2. If your controllers are already set as one device (or what you're actually refering to is a joystick with an integrated throttle slider) then in the "Keyboard mapping" section of the in-game Options menu, you can remap the throttle control to use your joystick axis.

3. There MAY (I don't actually remember) also be a check box in the controls section of the in-game Options menu that allows/disallows the use of the throttle.

Ten, what brand stick and throttle do you have?

I got the CH Products 568 Combatstick and the CH Pro Throttle. These replaced my Saitek X45 which has the stick and throttle wired together so the problem I'm having now I didn't have with my X45. The X45 also had the rudder control built into the throttle. It's a perfectly designed stick for SWG but didn't seem to be built as good as the CH.

Ten, good choice of hardware! I've got the same throttle and stick, plus Pro Pedals. Anyway, if you don't already have it, you need to get the Control Manager software from CH Products' website. Use this link.

Once you've got the software installed, you'll need to make a new map that combines your two devices into one control device (probably a 3 axis, 32 button device) You can do pretty much all of this automatically through Control Manager. If you feel up to it, add as many keyboard shortcuts to the stick and throttle map as you want.

If you have any trouble, PM me with your e-mail address and I'll send you a copy of the control template I use myself.

Hi Raano,

I have the Control manager and I link the 2 together but the throttle still doesn't work in SWG. If it works for you and not me then I must have missied something. Whether it was in the CM or in the Options page of SWG. After I make the the Map in the CM do I just go into SWG and is it supposed to work or do what? I'll send you a PM with my email addy. Please send me your template and also give me as detailed instructions as possible. I'm planning on getting the rudder pedals too. Kinda hard to play Flight Sims without a rudder function.

Thanks for your help.
