Always enguage them head on. once they pass, hit boostand go out about 1000m. turn around, by then the aggressor has made his turn and is comming torward you. 3 or 4 passes and you should have him disabled.

Target Weapon one and stay on his butt, fire at all times, If you find your front shields going, eather shunt to shields or disengage, come back and try once your shields are back, Ususally I can take a tier 5 aggie, just losing 1/4 of my shields.

Play or quit..... there is no whine.

The level 5's are best taken out by an A-Wing with high speed and a decent, rapid fire gun. I hardly ever get hit by the thing's rear guns any more. My A-Wing mounts a level 8, 3500 damage gun with .27 refire. If you are using an X-Wing, I used to fire a concussion missile to take down the shields and make shorter work of it. Targetting the rear gun is critical.

I fear no Aggressor, and I learned how simply through practice and hard work. I have survived the mob of 4 tier4 in Endor solo, no eshields, no running, just shot them and won.

The basic principle is to not get rattled. A steady hand and aim and an Aggie is just another ship. Here are the steps i used to practice and learn:

Programming- this is the aid you will use until you get the hang of step 2. Aggies are one time that having the rebel programs come in very handy. Use the back to front adjust program when your shield has been chewed up. This almost doubles the protection you have, when timed correctly.

Aim- simply put, you have to be dead on accurate. in a fast ship that can keep up with a tier4-5 aggie, slot in behind him and fire away. Do not let the splash from his bolts or the shake, rattle your aim in the least. The AI makes it easy on you, since Aggies are fond of High climbing turns with little twisting for 3-6 seconds at a time. Plenty of time to disable weapon1 which is your primary goal.

Engagement- the most common Aggie encounter is with T5 in Kessel. The Aggie wins a lot when the pilot sees, him and panics, or at least reacts, too quickly. 90% of the imperials in Kessel are engaged with a Rebel NPC already at the static spawn. When this is the case, you have plenty of time to slot in behind and line up your shot. If he's not aggro on you, don't make him so until you are good and ready.

Flight- Since the Aggies make the same sort of turn a lot, you can take advantage of it in another way. during the high climbing turn, normal practice is to stay inside your target and shoot, this is why the Aggie is so deadly, his top faces you in this situation, and the turret gets freebies. If you need to, you can slide outside his turn, then pitch your nose back up and in, shooting at the underside of the Aggie, and not have any turret fire to contend with.

All of this happens in a matter of seconds, so its hard to slow down the steps and see whats happening. But eventually you can get a feel for things, and do much better against the Aggie. Currently I am a lot better as an Aggie hunter, and I rarely need the shield program's help, unless I have multiples that I want to go after in rapid succession. A good eye, hard guns, and fast ship can kill you an Aggie with less than 10% shields off, it just takes practice.

Thanks everyone! Aggies were the only thing that really gives me a beating anymore except for gunboats, and those I can stalk at max range. I think I just got in the habit of overreacting - we'll see how some attempts go tonight in Kessel.

I have to agree with the head on aproach... make them joust you... it is definetly the safest way to defeat them.
If I find myself following one I will do a couple of pop shots to the turret and then dip down sharply and use my boosters to get below them and then turn up... to complete the wopptie--doo.. by tha time I point up towards the belly they usually are turning at me to joust... if not I will do another wooptie-doo.

You can take the Agressors from the rear no problem. Make sure you have your reward shield with2500hp installed. Next run your Rebel Program Shield Front Adjust Heavy or Extreame. This boosts your front shield protection. Also 1 big gun with is better than 2 lesser guns. Finally, as mentioned above, target the weapon.

You will take a few hits from the Agressors weapon, but the weapon is disabled very quickly. I enjoy fighting the Aggressors now. I find any other fighter (with theexception of the A-wing due to it's low profile) dull.

I've looked through all the FAQs that I could find and nothing gives much in the way of tips on how to survive one of these beasts. The turret makes me wish I'd gone imperial, if it weren't for the fact that no copilot has a hope of being that accurate - and I would rather have the strong gun on the front!

Can anyone share successful ways of dealing with these? A group of five tier 3 & 4 rebels barely took out two tier 4's without losing anyone, mostly by having the one being shot at go to emergency shields.

I avoid them whenever possible for that very reason.

I haven't tried massive number of missles fired at the turret gun though...suppose that might work.

I have no problems with Aggressors. When you target them select their reactor and try not to aggro them until you are on a dead on course faceing each other with as much distance between you, slow your engines as slow as you can keeping manuverability and nail him in the face. Many times you can disable them in one pass.

I never use my missiles unless I am getting into trouble and that is when I come accross two aggressors. Same tactic, but I will use one missile on the first and when I am done with him I will take out the second.

If I ever have problems with aggressors it is that I wasnt able to get a head on start, so in following them their turret is eating me alive. Just stay on them and keep aiming until your shields are literally almost completly gone, them break and show them your rear until you can use your droid program of weapons capacitor to shields, or some kind of shield recover program. Once your capacitor has charged back up do a 180, slow wayyy down and do the head on thing. I usually barrel roll when I do head on runs. I don't know why but it seems I get more damage someone, plus they keep missing me. Go figure.

Also read that guys post about how to fly, KISS and all that stuff. Nice manuvers in his threads. Rolling and such. Worth re-reading too.

Head on approach, or wait for the right time to open up if you're behind them. take out weapon1 as quick as possible.
