I just started flying..pretty cool so far and I have a couple questions.
I looted a capacitor from a blacksun ship the title of the loot is something like Kuat Rare Mark 2 Capacitor. My question is this... since the title says "Rare" does this mean it is the best loot for its' particluar lvl? If you're curious the The stats are:
Lvl 4
Armour/HP = 255
Reactor Energy Drain = 1091
Mass = 4490
Capacitor Energy = 670
Recharge Rate = 33
My second question - Is there a junk dealer to sell all the space loot to?

You can sell loot to a chassis broker in any starport, but until you really know what you're looking at...
anyway, the word Reare in that case doesnt indicate anything. That is a pretty basic example of a level4 cap, nothing to write home over.
Enjoy Space, use the chassis broker to make money, but keep your eyes open for Reward items and dont sell them

I'm a shipwright, and I've reverse engineered around 1500 parts at this point. At first I kept stats to see if the name had any correlation to the stats. The only thing the name indicates is the item and the level, nothing more. In general 95% of your loot is only good if you can't afford better (and should be sold to the chassis dealer, who pays quite well), but the 5% is usually head and shoulders above that level. Capacitors seem to be really quirky. From what I can tell the best low level capacitors (far better than max craftable) are level 2 capacitors. My current cap I got off a Tier 1 Z-95:
Level 2
Reactor Drain: 942.2
Mass: 4159.7
Energy: 972.4
Recharge: 39.9
I've seen level 2 RE'd capacitors at this level over and over again, so I don't think it's a freak occurance.

That example's a strange one, though, as its mass is 2-3 times what a level 2 cap normally is. Almost looks like it'd be cert level 2, RE level 4.
Level 2 caps are really nice, though; enough time spent killing low-level stuff and you can RE one in the 38-39 recharge, 950 energy, 1500 mass range. And between Cap Overload and WO3 being buggy like it is, you really don't need anything more powerful. Nice and all, not having to worry about the mass of one of your key parts, but it's a little unbalancing.
