This is yet another post about the infamous third tier 3 mission for Storm Squadron. I am having the same problem that everybody else is. I can't take out the 4 waves of fighters fast enough to satisfy the mission's apparent requirements. I am usually chasing down the last ship in a wave when the next one arrives.
I am flying a TIE interceptor with a weapon that does a max of 2600 damage (don't remember the actual name), and I am using droid commands, specifically overcharge capacitor L2, and capacitor to shield shunt L2 when necessary (which really isn't often in this mission. I've never been in danger of dying). I have tried to use overcharge weapon L2 as well, but it drains my capacitor so fast that it's hardly worth it. My capacitor energy is about 1100 even with the overcharge command. I am certified for L7 equipment, so I could use a better capacitor, but the interceptor chassis just won't hold the weight. I opted for a better engine and weapon, and had to remove boosters and missle launchers to do that. And, I don't have anywhere near enough to pay the going price for a heavy TIE (750000 on Bloodfin).
Does anybody have any specific advice on fighting a-wings and taking them down quickly? I can take down the tier 3 fighters really quickly. The tier 4 fighters are another story...I eventually got into the habit of disabling them, then slowing down and destroying them after they stopped moving. This seemed to be a faster method than chasing them all around space, but clearly it isn't fast enough. Any special tricks or tactics would be appreciated.
Thanks!

weapons overload? bomber strike? i soloed that mission in my interceptor. 1.7k-2.5k disruptor, 87speed engine 1600shields. 1200power capacitor. NO droid chips. you need to raise some funds, get in touch with a shipwright and get some GOOD parts. that mission only gets harder after that. the nova courier you have to fight will eat you alive if you are having trouble with the awings. then again, i have helped people do that mission but SS is the hardest squad for a reason! good luck.

That's not entirely true. I haven't tried it again, but I am not entirely sure that I will be able to get through that mission on the first try. I'm just not particularly fast about destroying small targets. Novas, on the other hand, fold like a deck of cards. Some people are just better against larger targets.

of course it all comes down to what you know and how you play. i straffed it until its weapons were capish and then sent my bomber strike after the xwings flying around. /dock then the bastid comes back fully charged with a six ship escort to say hi. do it all over again. bstrike on nova and pick off the baby ships protecting it. had to get a quick SP fix once but after that shunt was my saving grace.

Look for the other threads on this as there is a plethora (yes I kow what a plethora is) of information on this subject. Also, you DO know you can use higher that level 2 droid programs if you buy the chips right?
