Thread: Holy crap, how do I beat this impossible mission?

I'm in storm squadron, my pilot skills are at 2222 and I havea TIE/In with the mass maxed out. And I have no idea how anyone else made it past the engineer escort mission. Everytime I attempt this mission I either get blown up or get too far away from the freighter. I'm not a bad pilot at all, its just impossible for me to take out 30 ships at a time when they just keep on pouring in. Earlier today I tried grouping up with another player who was stuck on the same mission, so we both did ours at the same time. We both made it past the engineer escort mission, but then for some reason it just keeps giving us more and more missions in a continuous chain. Retaking the freighter and inspecting the advanced recon ship was doable, but then the next freighter part after that is just plain impossible and we both got destroyed multiple times. How the hell am I supposed to be able to take on 8+ tier 4's at a time when I'm a Tier 2? Is there anything Im supposed to do besides just disabling the fighers instead of destroying them (because I tried that and it doesnt work)?

get higher level pilots to help you, like tier 4s and masters

You're just annoying some random spawn along the way, which many missions have problems with. If you come across it halfway through the escort, then you need better pilots to cover you. If you catch them on your way to your escort, give them a wide berth.

1) get more help

2) dont destory ships attacking whatever you're escorting- just disable and leave. EDIT: I admit, I just scanned what you said before I replied. Guess its just #1 for you.

Good luck! Running 4 1.5 hour missions makes you a better pilot, maybe!

Set your radar to 8k at all times, so you can see and avoid non-mission spawns.

Never take two of the same missions in a group; you'll get twice as many mobs.

Are you using all the overload programs you should be? Use of reactor overload, engine overload, capacitor overcharge, weapon overload and captoshieldshunt will give you makred performance and survivability enhancement.

This was the second to last mission I was able to solo in SS and it took me several tries (first pilot mastering).

Best of luck.

Look in the stickied faqs for specifics, but you basically need to get the highest level flight computer you are certed for, readi it into your datapad, add your imperial skills via the program window, then find a freelancer and get the three programs on chips for him/her, the ready those into the flgiht computer via a radial menu option on the chips, the go to the flgiht comp program menu again and add those new chip program to the active list and commit changes, then put in your ship, then im space go to the abilities menu under the astromech tab and find the hotkeys for these. hehe have fun reading that!

As for marco it...I used to and it seemed more useful at lower levels where I had lesser shields and always seemed to be using. At master with fairly uber shield and better skills and overall compenets, I find I don't use the macro anymore.

This one is a pain and has had a few of my lot stuck for a while.

Ship load out really helps though - ditch missiles, get a comp to overload weaps, reactor, engine, and rear shields / cap shunt rear shields. No need to use extreme or heavy programmes as you'll fill up your comp before getting all the required progs in memeory - 2's will work fine. Don't worry about the normalizing progs - they take up space and you wont be needing them for this one.

Put the fatest rear armour you can get your hands on onboard. And obviouisly the biggest guns you can load.

Then get a couple of higher level buddies to take out the craft that will be chasing you.

As for tactics your job is to survive - so feel free to leg it when in trouble, let your buddies pick up the chase ships, when your shields and armour start to take a pounding flip round, fire a few shots at the chase ships to make them think twice about shooting at you, engaging them for about 90 seconds seems to work, but swap targets constantly - a couple of hit here and there is the secret. This lets your front shields take a bit of a whack while your rears recover a little - then get running again.

When you revert to running the chase ships will tend to line up behind you, making them easy meat for anyone you have in support to pick off.

Worked for me - although I was in a sorry state by the end of it - the npc non-mission spawns can be avoided but it's often tough in the middle of dogfights to start faffing around to get around them - having more firepower on your side is the answer.
