Thread: Help, please, I am stuck in the Rebel pilot tree.
Ok, I am just starting Tier 4 in the Reb tree and I am stuck.
I am 3433 (i messed up when it came time to train) so i have my x-wing with all lvl 7 parts - working good -but the bad part, is whenever I try to even attempt the quest at this level, i get smoked. it's the "Imperial Training Groud assault" in Dathomir. I guess i'm supposed to get smoked, because after i get partially repaired at the space station, I get the "Escape Route" - that's fine, but when the 6 tie-interceptors and Advanced Tie's come out - again, i have no chance. Would I stand a better chance in the A-wing, if I hadn't screwed up?
If so, is there any way to drop one box? i tried but it looked like it would't let me.
if anyone has any advice or can offer to help me out of this pickle, i'd appreicate it. I was able to get 200k of pilot xp since I messed up by doing the advanced x-wing quest, but again, i'm getting smoked . : )

How's your droid programs set up? I haven't done this particular mission yet, but if you have the correct programs and don't let them keep you flying in a straight line, you should be fine.
btw... next skill I'd go up is xxx4 to boost your DI programs even more. Get used to the challenge of low mass (100k isn't that low), it will be useful if you decide to get an A-Wing or Bel-22. (And as forementioned, a wingman never hurts 
)
I know this mission well. It really messed me up my first pilot squad. I found that the first engagement you get into your suppose to fail. Feel free to engage but stay on the outskirts and don't get too involved. This part you will fail no matter what you do. One time I did this mission something happened in Real Life right as I was about 2.5k out from the mission WP. I had to go AFK. When I got back I had failed the first part (I was still sitting 2.5k out) and had the WP for the second part. I fly over to the second part and passed that and successfully passed the mission.
Make sure your using droid programs. Your X Wing, IMHO, is the best ship you can fly. The AWing just doesn't have enough killing power for me. I put 2 LvL7 .26 refire crafted weapons, and 1 LvL5 crafted .27 refire into the X and it does nice. If you have 3 weapons that can beat the damage of the crafted ones get those RE'ed and use those. I also use the LvL6 RE'ed reward engine (around 69-70 YPR, 82.2 sp, 9k mass average makes a decent engine), a crafted LvL7 shield (17k mass, 1850 f/b, 12 recharge or about this), crafted MkIII Armor (6kmass 1160 armor), MkII booster (30sp, 900 energy, 88 drain. About a 10 second boost, with about 2k mass), RE'ed LvL2 Capacitor (over 37 recharge and 1000 energy), and the best LvL2/3 reactor with around 13k output you can RE. And then a Reactor OL, Engine OL, Cap OL, Weapon OL, and C2SS programs you can fit into your droid. Scrimp on the C2SS if you have to. I can't remember the exact numbers but you will want to try for RO3, EO3, CO3, WO3, C2SS (best you can fit). If you need, scrimp a little on the CO program.
Two things:
1) do you have a Droid Interface loaded?
2) the last folder when looking at your ship from the ground, is your R2 red, meaning it's loaded?

1) yes

both are loaded - I was able to get them to load properly when I use the flight computer in my tie - but since I changed factions and re-grinded the reb pilot tree, i've had no luck with the droid programs appearing.

I've heard of this before. Only thing I've heard that has fixed things like this is you need to pull everything out of the ship, redeed it andthen regenerate it. Otherwise, bug it.

Yeah -i'm on Kauri - but I submited a ticket about not being able to use a droid, and they said that should only be able to use an Astromech droid in my x-wing while in space - is an R2 unit not an astromech droid? am I missing something?
Anyway - it's a non issue, I was able to pass the mission with the advice given here, thanks alot - but i'm just confused about why I can't use my droid.
