well, i ran it twice.. both times it was destroyed when the gunboats hypered in.
is there a certain point that you can disable the corvette and keep the gunboats from spawning like in the rebel version?
When you get to the corvette point, do the following:
1. Take out the fighters. Do this by engaging one or two then flying AWAY from the corvette. Do your best NOT to hit the corvette, even with a stray blaster bolt. Take out the fighters.
2. Go back to the corvette. It should not be aggro'd on you yet. If it is, then do an IFF spoof. Fly right up to its engine ports, within a few meters. Tail the corvette until it gets about 5,000m from the station. Then target the corvette shields, destroy them, then target its engines and disable it. DO NOT SHOOT ITS WEAPONS. Once disabled, the engineers will take over the ship. Keep your ship very close to the engines and behind the corvette, so you don't get caught in its weapons envelope.
3. Once the engineers have taken over the ship, you now are flying an escort mission protecting the corvette. The closer to the station that you can disable the corvette, the less time the gunboats will have in taking it out prior to it warping out.
I've helped a bunch of people with this mission. I can help you with it if you're on Bria.
As the last poster stated, don't disable the Vett until it is 5k from the Rebel Outpost. If you wait until that mark you won't see any GB's. The only difference I do is after taking out the Escorts I then 1) take off Gun 5, 2) take off both shields with a bottom front approach (reason I take gun 5), then I just sit behind it until we hit 5k from the outpost and I blow the engine. I don't use missiles against the vet's (This one or the Ace Vet) so I straff Gun 5 from a below and aft possition. When I blow gun 5 I pull out in a below and foward direction so I can turn and straff the shields from below and forward. When I knock out both shields I exit below and after so I can pull around and line up behind the vet to straff the engine (even on the Ace Vet with the GB's still sitting there).
I've done the Kashyyyk quest many many times not helping other pilots and guildmates. I think I'm getting close to the dozen mark on the Ace vet. I alway's jump at a chance to do either of these vet's. I've gotten it down so I can solo either without too much dificulty (the ace vet still gets a little of my nose armor sometimes.)
