I was wandering around in Kessel last night looking for a few rebs to dust for my 30-kill pre vette mission for Storm Squadron. I'd declared before I hyped in so I could get enough faction to bio-link the stormie armor I'd purchased as a souvineer of my imperial service. I ran my standard patrol between the vette entry and exit points looking for the odd rebel gunboat, or 'sitting ducks' as I like to call them...
...A red con showed up right at the limits of my radar, which I had on maximum range...
As I queried the target to find out what kind of rebel was going to experience my wrath, my display showed the rather familiar arrowhead shape of a Jedi Starfighter. I cut my engines and kept an eye on the range counter...it started to decrease...........gulp.
Now if I was in my JSF I would have been a little more confident at this point. As it was, I was in a bellubab which I'd thrown together because the chassis on my starfighter was getting a little shabby. 'A workman never blames his tools' I hear you say - and you'd be right. I blame that other workman's tool, whichby this time was travelling very quickly in my direction. Ifelt the adrenaline rush through me....then realised that adrenaline isn't brown and hit my boosters
This dude was fast, and I mean real fast - my boosters aren't great, but the rate at which the gap was closing was disturbing to say the least. It seemed eerilyquiet without my little R4 unit to scream at, and only a rather clinical flight computer counting down my 'run like hell' hyperspace protocol into durillium sea.
1000, 900, 800 meters - I closed my eyes and got ready to assume the 'kissmy ass goodbye' position. The flight computer cut my engines ready for the jump.....600m.....4..3..2..1 on thecount....Red blaster bolts lashed out and....
...cut through the airwhere my ship was just milliseconds previously.
Remember - it takes balls to go into Kessel declared. But when someone engages you from 5000m away in a jedi starfighter....their balls are bigger
I have no shame in running - I went on to solo my vette and get my 5th mastery. I did this because I survived, and I survived through tactical retreat.

When Pub24 hits, I'll finish my new engine.
In my RGI, I will have a cruising speed on approx 1520

And a bugged hitbox to go with it.
