Thread: Droid command chips not loading

I bought 5 unprogrammed droid command chips. Programmed them with the appropiate commands. I understand there is supposed to be an option to transfer these chips to my datapad so I can then transfer them to my droid. I can't find any option to do this. The only options I have are Examine. Destroy. Drop. and Analyze. No option to transfer on the radial menu of the newly programmed chip. Am I doing something wrong or is there a known bug? Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this question.

You are doing something wrong. You do not need droid command chips to program your droid with commands that you know. Your droid or flight computer should have an option in it's datapad menu for "Program Droid". Use the window that opens to transfer programs to it.

You only need the chips if you want to use programs from another profession. You add these to your droid/computer using the same method.

Ok you have the chips programmed, that is the first step. Once you have them in all you do is go to your flight computer in your datapad and you should see a list of commands that you can transfer from the left side to the right side. At the bottom of this list you should see the programmed chips. Send them to the right side...it will tell you that once you do this you can't reverse it, then all you need to do is commit the revisions and your done with the puter.

Once your in your ship do a cnrtl+A and go to astromech, place them commands on the task bar and then once your in space hit the appropriate key to launch the command. It takes 99 seconds to commit each droid command and can be rather tedious but it does work.

I'm a privateer and I use reactor overload 3, capacitor overload 3, and engine overload 3(had an imperial ace program the chip for me).

Does your droid need to have a data-storage option to be able to accept Droid Chips and be useable in your fighter?

I tried that and it failed with my R2 unit, but maybe that's because I was a 1-1-1-1 rebel pilot at the time?

Yes, your droid needs to be fitted with data storage to be useable in a ship. Data Storage comes in 6 levels, and you can only use levels for which you are certified. At 1111 you would be limited to using a droid fitted with a Level 1 or 2 data storage unit.

Confirmed I also fell into this trap:

On farstar server as alliance pilot 2222 I tried to install some level 3 chips. Don't do it you will lose the chips. Whilst not allowing use of programs above your level is understandable we should at least be warned and the chips rejected rather than removed.

You can use chips of a higher level than you are currantly - you just need to make sure that you have enough storage space in your comp to hold them.

best way to check this is to unload your data comp completely of all programmes that you have at your level - then load in purchased chips that you want to use - then see what you have left in terms of space - there is a green bar at the right hand side when your in the programming screen that lets you know how full your comp is.

Besat way to avoid filling up is to only use chips of 1 level higher than you are currently - they dont take up as much space.

Which means I need someone to make me a while new droid, since all my existing droids don't have Data Storage modules.
