Thread: What to do with all this loot...

I have been, since I started piloting, selling all my loot to the chassis broker. It is quick, reliable money. However, i have been selling a lot of REALLY good pieces that lower leve pilots could use, and right now they are just dissapearing in the dealer. I want to help other piltos out and sell it to them instead of the broker, but I don;t have artisan so I can't. What do you guys think is the best way to get rid of pieces TOO GOOD to trash for a few thousand creds?

There's just too much of it out there and it's too easy to get. It really is only worth what the junk dealer gives you.

Seconded with one exception : I have been offered up to 4 times the chasis dealer price (somtimes much more) for good level 8 and 10 equipment and sometimes 6 too by shipwrights for RE purposes.

Also worth noting is that odd equipment levels ( 3 5 7 and 9) are usually not as good as the even level below them ( 2 4 6 and 8) IE 99% of the time level 8 armour will be better than level 9 armour, which is why I only mention levels 8 and 10 above and not level 9 or 7.

Personally....

I have a large generic house (can store up to 500 items)

Inside I have 11 backpacks. They are labelled Cert 1 - Cert 10 and the 11th is labelled RE'ed.

All loot I get in space gets put into these bags to collect for RE'ing. By sorting them by cert it makes it easier to know when you have enough to get something re'ed. I know I could go turn it all in for mass cash (over 300 items so far) but I rather have some of the best components possible.

I have already aced Black Epsilon and Imperial Inquisition, my plan is to do Jabba's and Storm Squadron next, again.. keeping all loot to get it re'ed. You make enough cash from the missions themselves.

I used to save 6-10 to for re'ing. Recently sold some L9's to a ship dealer and dumped the rest of L9 and L7 on the chassis dealer (100+ items). Odd level loot isn't worth the storage space. Saving just 4-10 even loot now.

Imperials: Hang on to level 7 guns, the reward gun you get is L7 so you'll need 6 fillers

i save all loot that is between lvl 1-3 for my Ship Wright friend to get RE's. and i save weapons lvl 6-10, Caps lvl 6,8,10 shields lvl 8,10. also save all my lvl 10 loot for my SW friend to re because why not? i mean i would only normally get 500 credits for them at the dealer.

I am in a pilot guild that runs a salvage operation. We keep all of the loot that makes good REs pieces and save it until we can get it REd. Then we put the REd stuff into another house where our members can outfit their ships as they need. Once you learn about RE you really understand how much better your ships can be. Then the quest for the best possible ship can begin lol...

Hey, thank for the suggestion. I have started putting the exceptional pieces in a travel pack. Only porblem is, when i go to sell the junk pieces, I have to make sure I don't accidently sell the good ones.

AND, I am getting into revers egineering. My friend explained it all to me, and it is pretty cool. I am gonna get all my stuff RE'd and see if I can help out some new players.

It's always worth checking the specs on looted components before you sell them to the dealer (or whomever). As an example I've got a lvl 2 reactor (un-RE'd) that puts out over 14,200 units of power. That's good power, but less than what even a moderate crafted reactor will put out, so why is it good? It's good because it puts out that power at only 1,500-odd mass! This is a godsend for pilots of A-wings, Tie-Interceptors, etc. who have to manage their mass carefully. When you get an exceptional part like this, use it up (its armour/hit points ratings) BEFORE REing to give it a longer total life.

I also do the bags of assorted loot. In my case, though, I only have 7 bags: lvls 6 -10, RE'd, and Assorted. Assorted includes crafted items life Ordnance and Countermeasures, as well as odd items like the aforementioned lvl 2 reactor. Otherwise, everything I use in my ships comes from the 6-10 bracket. After you spend a good deal of time collecting your loot, you'll begin to recognize quickly what represents good vs. junk components. At that point you can start holding onto only the good components (especially at lower levels where loot is plentiful) and sell the junk to the chassis dealer, as it's not goign to be any use to lower level pilots either. The good stuff you keep, and you should also keep even the junk loot from higher levels (7-10), because you use up so many when REing.

There are useful guides here to REing - take the time to read them before you get started.

I'm saving all cert's because I'm planning on finishing two more squadrons sometime soon (2 down, 2 to go!) Very useful to already have all the gear I could possibly need pre-re'ed for me too. Not too mention saving all the reward loot's to be re'ed at a later time as well.
