yup i do that all the time, the prob is i can only see my ship from the rear, i just discovered "cockpit camera" mode, but its useless to me as you I can't fly while looking.

justgo to third person view and move you cursor around. Don't use the mouse buttons as that only fires your guns. Just move the mouse like you would when looking at your toon. Hope that helps.

It sounds like you are using the mouse to fly. If that is the case, I am not sure how to look around. If you are using a flightstick, you can just move the mouse around and look where ever you like.

I think it is num lock... well it is on the key pad I know that... it has been a long time since I flew w/o a stick, sorry I can't help more.

If you have num lock activated, it enables the look mode. While holding down the zero on the number pad (while the num lock is activated) you can use the mouse to rotate around. If you press the period on the number pad (while num lock is activated) this will change you from looking at the rear to looking at the front. And when you release the period, it will default back to a rear view. To get back to 'normal' mode, press the period and release it (to get back to the default rear view) and deactivate the num lock.

Yup, what Obed said. While in third person, hold down the Zero on the number pad and you can rotate around your ship. 5 resets it to center.

Actually free look is defualted to the Insert key. So either use the numpad(0/Ins) key or the Insert key.
