Thread: Looted a gem of a reactor

So last night I went to Kash space to test out my B-Wing on the Merc Cruisers. I just recently mastered and built it up, so I wasn't quite ready to take it to Kessel or DS. Anyway, I'm out doing strafing runs against the cruisers rather than flying in the blindspot. I was getting used to it and was doing pretty good in the flying tank when I saw I looted a Kuat Systems RCT-Z reactor. Knowing that they sometimes drop with killer gen rates, I checked my inventory right after the last cruiser detonated.
Armor and HP - 656
Mass - 41.7k
Gen Rate 0.0
That's right, a 42k mass reactor with 0.0 gen rate. I must have looked at it for 5 minutes in disbelief. I'm still in shock that I looted this gem of a reactor.
Should I keep it for a display, use it for an RE filler, or sell this useless hunk of crap to the chassis dealer? LOL

Yea some reactors like that can be bugged with a 0 Gen rate and a very high mass. Still, its pretty rare to loot one of those so you can always hang it up as a relic or something

not that rare, about 1 in 50 reactors i loot is an rct-z with 0 gen rate

If they drop that much, I'm going to make it a goal to loot 7 more and RE them together. Give it some funny name and hang it in the guild hall for everyone to see, LOL.
On second thought, nah. I'll just hang this one on the wall.

IT IS NOT A BUG!
The same distribution that produces the super high generation (20k+) reactors is responsible for producing the 0 gen reactors. Further, I'll say this: the best way to figure out the "possible best" you can get is to loot 30 components with the same name, get the mean and standard deviation, and apply the axiom that 99.73% of all items will fall within 3 standard deviations of the mean. If indeed these pieces of loot are dropped to approximate a normal curve. I've got this strong hunch that they do.

Im pretty sure thats how loot drops work, but also they seem to have an overall maximum level they can reach. Usually if you get something that excells in one area it will be worse in nearly all the others. Its not an exact science but close enough from my observations.
example:
Loot a 20 RR 1250 charge capacitor
Loot a 38 RR 500 charge capacitor
(assuming every other stat is the same)

Anyhoo, I thought you looted one with 19k regen, too, right?
I looted a 31.5k gen rate reactor about a montha nd half ago. I used it my B-Wing since I didn't have one around 19k, lol. If I get a 20k one, i'll swap it for the one in the B-Wing and use the 31.5k one for a Nova.
