I am a freelancer / privateer and currently in the CorSec squadron. I d like to switch permanently to the Smuggler Alliance.

Ifound out that I can easily do duty missions for the Smuggler Alliance as well. Do I not have to change squadrons? Can I just continue to do Smuggler missions? I guess not, but could anyone comment on this please?

you can do duty mission from any of the neutral tier 2 and 4 trainers no matter what neutral squadron you are in

Why switch?

You can run Duty missions from other paths of the same faction (RSF/CorSec/SA for example), but actually switching from one to another requires dunping all Pilot skils and starting over. CorSec and SA are both very neutral, so what do you see as the gain in switching? Answering that may help us give you better advice.

I would like to switch one for role playing reasons, two dont you get a title / badge when finishing a squadron? which one will I get when I start at CorSec and then do all the missions for Smugglers Alliance?

You are granted boxes when finishing missions, right? Will I also? Are does switching squadrons mean that I have to earn boxes by XP grind only? Correct me if I am mistaken on the mechanics here.

Thanks for your help and feedback.

I dont necessarily have to switch. I could just do all the SA missions. But can I?

no... only duty missions... unless you help a SA pilot with thier missions but then you don't get credit for them. You would have to drop pilot and start over with SA to do the SA squad storyline, but master Corsec first so that you get the master bonus to xp so the grind will be easier.

Reading through some of the Pilot FAQ should help you understand some of the game mechanics.

Thanks for all your feedback. It is very appreciated.

Sorry for asking a maybe obvious question. But I do read the forums a lot and searched for 30 minutes or so before posting. All I could find was information on changing FACTIONs, not squadron.

Iunderstand from the FAQ thatwhen you switch Factions, you have to start over. My question, however, is with switching squadrons within a faction.

If you start out in the Smugglers Alliance and proceed through 2211 Freelance Pilot....can you switch to the CorSec Squadron? Do you have to start over at novice pilot? If you can switch without starting over....how does the game handle it? Do you just pick up the CorSec tier-mission-chain at the same 'spot' that you left off the Smuggler's Alliance mission chain?

Thanks!

You have to start over.

Yeah, unlike the ground game, to switch something in pilot is all or nothing. You can't just jump squads halfway through, you must fully resign from the one you are in to join a new one. Doesn't matter if it's the same faction.

Thanks!

I'm still a bit confused when you fellas say "Start Over". Does that mean you have to resign all of your pilot boxes and start at Novice Pilot? Or would I be able to keep my 2/2/1/1 pilot boxes and just have to start the quests from the beginning?

If its completely restarting at Novice Pilot...I'll stick with where I'm at now. If its just the quests...it might be fun to start them over

Thanks again!

It's complete. When you go to the factional recruiter (there's one per faction, forgot their locs, check the pilot faq), he will ask if you wish to resign from your current squadron. When you tell him yes (a couple times), he'll remove all of your skills, resetting you to no pilot skills at all, which will allow you to train in a new one.

With how far along you are, it actually wouldn't be a bad idea if you really wanted to, since those first few boxes go really fast.
