Thread: Pushing my idea again before ROTW/CU

Ok, we all know by now that they say the Jedi Starfighter will be coming out in the next expansion. Wether thats a good thing or not, or how I think they should implement that is a topic for a different thread.A Mining Vessel will be introduced as well to mine asteroids, should be interesting to say the least.

Ok, so I'm curious wether or not we are going to see additional incentives. So, on those lines I'm just going to make a couple of suggestions. If something like this were to be introduced, it is imperative that PvP damage in space be resolved before it goes into a live state. One shot one kill would make this whole thing completely moot.

First off, the wookie homeworld is probably going to have a new spacezone, this is a welcome change. Personally I have noticed that after ace I really haven't utilized the current spacezones except to help other complete their missions. I again would like to pitch the idea of a capturable space station placed in each planets space zone.

As I said in the past (You'd have to do a search to find it probably) this station would be nuetral at server restart. It would use the same artwork as the current spacestations in JTL. It would be armed with turrets numbering somewhere in the 25-50 range. There will be absolutely NO NPC's guarding it. Just the turrets.

The cature process would require a POB ship to initiate and complete a docking procedure that would last 5 minutes. Only declared overt ships can participate in this capture. You would have to take out the turrets and 5 components to enable docking. Once docking is enabled the POB ship would ove into the docking bay and remain there until the procedure is complete. If the POB ship is destroyed before the 5 minutes is up, the procedure is halted. You will need to begin the docking procedure again.

Now, once all this has taken place and the base is converted to the winning faction. So, a faction has taken the station, now what happens? First off, you can now use the station to repair just like any other station. It will take a total of 15-30 minutes for all the stations turrets and components to fully repair.

If the Rebels capture the station a Mon Calamari cruiser warps into the system a good distance away. (Other side of the system is preferred.) They will be escorted by2 Assault Frigates (like the one outside of Endor Station), some gunboats, and multiple patrol squads.

If the Imperials take over the station, an Imperial Star Destroyer hypers into the system. They will be escorted by2 Assault Frigates (like the one outside of Endor Station), some gunboatsand hordes of TIE Patrols.

These spawns will signify which faction controls the system. To win back control of the system your faction would need to then go capture the starbase. Personally, I wouldn't place any time limits except the 5 minutes it takes to dock and capture the base. In other words, it should never be "uncapturable". If your faction wants to keep control... you must protect the base. OPnce the base changes hands the losing sides capital ships immediately hyper out of the system and the winning side will hyper in once the station completes it's repairs.

Dev's, I understand that with the CU and Rage of the Wookies coming at the sametime you're under the gun. But space is becoming quiet. Overts are difficult to find and there's really no point in taking out the "big targets" in DS. The ISD just respawns immediately and destroying the Rebel Base bugs the spawns till server reset. This suggestion would add to the planetary control system and allow JTL to be a part of the GCW.

This would have no affect on ground control, only that space zone. This is my idea, I know most people have their own. I want to keep it simple to code, use current art resources, and make it as simple to implement as possible.

five stars and a shameless bump for a truly excellent idea. The devs cant ignore this one forever and personally I hope that the next content they add in space is this...I know there are lots of people, myself included who would love to see the POB ship unload a boarding party to take control of the station, and perhaps this could be coded later, but for now this idea has incredible merit on its own. I especially love that you are attemping to tie space to the GCW in a way other than faction farming. I would add something from a previous thread on this subject. Whichever faction controls the station should receieve something like +25-50% FP per PvE kill while overt insaid system. Adds a little extra insentive to defend and attack the base.

It's a great idea but seeing as how they haven't even fixed basic bugs like Weapon overload 3 and the rebel space station being destroyed, I'd say you stand a snowballs chance in hell of getting them to even look at this idea.

I'm getting a little upset with the devs on support of this expansion and it feels like they have moved onto rage and the CU and don't have any plans to add anything to JTL. It's a pretty big shame too, JTL could easily become a HUGE success if they would create zones that let players run their own battles. I think that was their idea in Deep Space, to let players fly around in a huge battle, ala the movies, but they didn't put a lot of work or thought into it...

I agree in spirit for sure. JTL was launched, then that was it. A few fixes (slow in coming) but otherwise... nothing. I understand the groundgame needs attention, this new expansion came out of no where and I'm afraid it will affect the CU in a bad way. I agree the chances of any of my suggestions getting implemented/discussed by dev's/ or for that matter even seen by Dev's is pretty slim. But again, I will err on the side of optimism and hope that the Dev's at least read this and make fun of it.

I LOVE JTL! I aspire to complete at least 4 Ace titles. I would love to see JTL PvP fixed, the droid commands fixed, etc... I'm hoping that JTL gets a bit more attention. I have always been a huge fan of online flight sims and JTL could be the king of them all if only given the attention it deserves.

If the Dev's really want to see what kind of things JTL needs to enhance it.. all they need to do is play the 7 day trial of Ace's High. Till then, I will hope.

I think this would really add something to the game. I would really like to see it happen.

They could even use the Neutral stations already in place, really.

Just to add a point of view... wouldn't all the enemy ships that warp in with control of the base be great FP/Loot grinding tools for whomever does NOT control the station? As a rebel, I'd benefit most from letting the Imps have the station and have all kinds of targets to loot from.

That is why I suggest giving the controlling faction a bonus to FP or prestige or something. I want to add too that just as on the groundin the old days, PvP MUST be player coordinated. The devs cannot "provide" content to this end, they can only try to encourage it. I think if the rebel station in DS behaved like the ISD, you would see many more people out there. The point of the 2 of them being relatively easy to destroy for waht they are is that the devs want imps to defend the ISD and rebels to defend the station. As it is, the rebel station gives nothing, so there's is no incentive for imps to go near it. The ISD is easy to destroy without player inference, and doesn't give that many FP, I can farm more off the fighters and GB's. The main idea of this thread would provide the encouragement for people to PvP, but they would still need to organize it. Why would I want to go on a station takeover if no imps came to defend it? Then all it is, is PvE with the station turrets
