Thread: Ok i need help :)
To me the core issue in the 'where's the best loot' debate is frequency versus quality.
In Kessel all kills are tier 5 and so have the greatest individual likelihood of dropping the loot we all treasure the mostest - level 7+ guns, engines and shields. The same is true of DS, if you except tier 4 gunboats from the equation.
Other spawns, such as the evil raider tyrants in Endor, corsairs in Lok and my personal favorite, the blackscale spawn near the avatar platform in Kash, consist of lower tier ships that have a lesser chance for any given drop to be in the choice level range. In my experience the kill frequency at these spawns is much higher, however, which I find ultimately yields more good components faster. It also increases the rate at which you have to sort and sell, which is a downside.
Best place for loot I've found without question are those T5 duty missions in Kashykk. They're a bit tougher than your average duty, but are soloable (I finally managed the one with the waves of Ghrag Gunboats which ends up with 5 of them ata time
) but even if you don't complete them to the full extent, you can still go through a good number of waves before you actually have to give any consious thought into what you're doing and you get varied loot. Last night I looted two lvl 10 engines (one at 92 speed, the other with energy drain of 1435), three lvl 7 weapons, a load of lvl 5's, two lvl 4 capacitors, too many boosters (but that happens wherever you go) and afew other parts for selling over the course of two duty missions.
I'm hooked..and I'm a dedicated pvp'er.
Best ship I've found four these duties is my X-wing with 1430 TS with EO4, two lvl 8 re'd tri cannons, lvl 10 Starmap re'd weapon and a nice shield running front adjust. When it came to the gunboats, I'd simply kite them along, then double back weapons blazing, shunt, kite them in the opposite direction and repeat the process. Eventually they kind of get confused and 'spread out' a little more so makes it easier. Thing to remember with those gunboats which chase at high speed is...it can only get easier. Each time you damage one, you're closer to victory.
I'm going to try it again later.
