Thread: Would Having the Star Destroyer drop loot worth farming improve space PVP?

I was out soloing the Star Destroyer tonight while looking for some pvp, but never saw another pilot. So to kill the time was thinking about what would keep Deep Space hopping, and the only thing I could think of was loot. If you put some good lot on the faction bases people would camp them, and anyone coming into the zone would fight rather than leave a camper on thier "six". Does this idea have merit or am I space crazy?

Definately not, if I put my L10's back on my B-Wing I can kill that thing in 3-4 minutes from spawn to spawn. If it started dropping worthwhile loot you'll never see a spawn again with all the campers.

For those interested: Start low at the rear and fly up to take the shield, 180 turn, secondary shield, dive down, engine, boost away. Turn around when lag stops, reactor, boost up and dive down in a 45 degree angle on the bridge (only onepass needed in a B-Wing with 2 L8's/2 L10's). 1 dead ISD, take up position at the waypoint you've made behind the ISD, rinse and repeat.

PvE goals will NEVER improve PvP. You need to put PvP goals in. The only thing that providing PvE goals in a PvP zone will do is cause grief. There will be people who want to achieve the PvE goal, entering the zone for only that reason, and end up in PvP because of it. This will provide little ammusement for anyone, as people who are after the PvE goal will likely provide very little challenge to a PvP player, and the PvE player will be discouraged from playing because she is shot down every time she goes after her goal.

Just look at what happened in Kessel. PvE goal (Ace box missions) inside a PvP zone. The result? Players camping the zone with the intention of destroying players not interested in PvP. Some people will use any opportunity they have to grief others. Handing them pre-built opportunities doesn't strike me as a very good idea.

What server are you on? Some are a bit more active in space PvP than others.

I mostly play on Gorath, but I have a rebel pilot on Starsider and a Imp on Bria.

camping is the reason vette's don't drop loot either... there are plenty of gunboats and fighters that drop loot anyhow.

Killing the ISD repeatedly would result in a completely empty DS as the spawns are mutually inclusive - force the Imp spawns out, and you'll kill the Rebel spawns over time since the Reb spawns feed off the Imp spawns.

Secondly, "loot worth farming" would mean it'd actually have to be made difficult.

So in my opinion...nope, it shouldn't drop loot.

It's too easy to take that thing out be a loot farming spot.

I remember seeing a video posted of an a-wing taking the ISD and I thought "WOW that guys insance!" then tried it myself and I'm kind of dissapointed how easy it is.

Gunboats and aggressors are more of a challenge cos they actually move about so I would keep those as the loot drop ships.
