Thread: KSE Firespray flight tips?

Anyone have any tips for flying this boat? Ie: the ideal display settings etc. I finally tweaked everything (vertical offset,Mouse Inertia, Mouse Speed, etc)just perfect for my Tie Advance to fly like greased lightning, but those same settings make the Firespray very jittery. I find the same in my Oppressor, but at one time I had the settings for the Oppressor to fly almost like the Advanced and I wish I had written them down before I set it up for my advanced again. I got used to the offset firing guns, but still find I am not as effective without being able to aim on a dime.

Love my Firespray....

Well, personally, I fire off all my droid commands before I really go do anything. I setup a macro with the proper pauses and such. After they are done I do not hit the alt key (In other words you can't move your mouse around to click on hotkeys and it doesn't display the upper toolbar.)

I keep my field of view between 25-50% never higher. I'm loaded out with 2 blaster at 4k max dam each and 2 spacebomb2 launchers. 81 max speed 76ish ypr. Good cap and recator. I have found that with this ship, even more so than my oppressor, it is imperative that you learn the art of the roll.

I am never flying level. When this ship starts moving though targets better watch out. (Refer to Viduus' KISS Series of posts stickied in the FAQ on this board). I begin with a gentle roll and boost up to max speed. From here you will find that no matter which direction your target turns you can pull in on his rear bumber faster than an elderly woman headin to bingo.

At that range pay attention to your upper gun as your lower probably misses completely (figure between 100-50 meters). Once the target is further out continue to roll and you will find that more of your shots land on target as you rotate around your axis. This is rerally fun to watch with BWings and AWings. They have that nice slim profile when both upper and lower fangs make contact it makes for a spectacular explosion.

So, I guess to sum it up Roll.. Roll... Roll... If you want a better more detailed explanation I highly suggest going into the "Useful Threads" post stickied at the top of this forum and go read Vid' KISS series for an over abundance of pilot do's and don'ts

don't PvP in it. I took a guy out twice last night on my server's Endor. Even in Deep Space you might not take real damage, but it's too damned expensive to piss it away...

PvP Wins in KSE Firespray = 13

PvP Losses in KSE Firespray = 1

Agreed, careful with that decay.. but personally, on Ahazi most Rebels don't/can't fly. There's a few really good Rebel pilots out there but on my server there really isn't much competition right now.

/agree on the roll hehe. This ship is a tough one to fly, and if you aren't moving on multiple axes, it takes awhile to make it through a turn. Also steer very lightly. The chassis is heavy and you will oversteer a lot until you get used to the handling. Its not as bad as a Bwing, but still can throw off your aim.

Heh, learn to fly a B-wing, then a firespray should be easy.

Ah, then if I get a Firespray for my Alt I'm good to go, since I take a B-wing to Deep Space.

The best way to aim i've found is to go to cockpit view and switch off the frame, i hardly ever miss, b-wing and firespray best for PVP imo 3 deaths 12 kills (not enough PVP in space)
