here's the easy guide for you(just recently did it myself)

1 - Attempt to surrender your pilot skills. You will get a message saying that you can not do this but it will allow you to create a WP to YOUR pilot trainer, this is very important if you don't remember who your trainer is or where he is located lol. If you do know who your current trainer is you can simply go straight to him and retire.

2 - Go to your designated Trainer and retire from pilot. Remember that you will lose all skill boxes AND XP. Banked XP does not transfer.

3 - Find the trainer for your new pilot squadron(check FAQ's for a listing). Note that if you are looking to be trained by an imperial pilot branch then you must be imperial factioned, and you must be in the positive faction points. Same for the rebellion, also note that for neutral you may be required to have positive corsec or jabba faction depending on your choice of squadrons.

Hi all, I need a bit of help... I am just getting into piloting and I joined up as a neutral pilot at first, but now I have decided to join the military and fly for the Empire... But i cant seem to get an option to quit the smugglers alliance, and the imperial pilot trainer won't talk to me...

At first i thought it was just because i had not finioshed my starting missions, because apparently you ahve to do those to get any other options with the trainer, bu then I did finish them and all i get are options to do standard low level mission (I forget what they were called, sorry)

how can i switch and has anyone heard of this problem before?

If you neutral you need to go to the Mon Cal guy in Bestine and retire. Least thats what I think you need to do. Retire from Freelance then go to the Imperial guy. Hope that helps you.
