Thread: Overload program limits?

Been a while since I've played - and thus, a long time since I've flown. When I did it, I was a Storm Squadron and Smugglers Alliance Ace (not at the same time, of course )....so when I came back to the game (in lieu of the CU and in light of ROTW) I decided to go ahead and do the Crimson Pheonix squadron and make Ace before ROTW so I could play with all the neato space stuff.

However, when I started getting into the levels where I started to run overloads, I started...um...messing up. I may have gotten lucky before, getting by on sheer ignorance, or something may have changed...but for some reason now, my overloads are breaking me.

Running cap overcharge 4, weapon overload 3, and engine overload 3, disables my weapons. Funny thing is, it only recently started happening...I haven't switched components, but it started draining to the point where I can't fire anymore.

In another case (my X-Wing, the first was in my A-), I'm running Reactor Overload 4, Wep Cap Over 3, Engine Over 3, and Weapon Over 3....as soon as I run that weapons overload, 2 of my weapons go offline and each shot with the remaining one takes about 1/2 of my cap.

I'm missing something, I know that much...it has something to do with the components (either my cap, reactor, or both) - but I'm not sure exactly what I need to change in order to start running at maximum effeciency.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Check the hitpoints on your reactors, they may have degraded to the point that running an overload will actually lower your power output.

Alrighty, that help - thanks.

Do you by chance happen to know what numbers things start to go bad? Is it a set number? A percentage? And is it incremental...will I start losing it overtime as my cap takes damage or will it all happen at a certain point?

Thanks in advance!

Engine overload 3 and 4 blow out my capacitor, making it completely useless. So be careful.

Unless you're an Ace that visits deep space before every landing, you should avoid the Lvl4 overloads. They all do more than 10hp dmg to a part, and thus cause permanent decay unless you use the free fix from DS. A ship part is like a weapon, or armor, it will be less effective when its condition drops below a certain amount (unsure exactly how low that is, I never break my parts if I can help it). Make sure your reactor has enough for your power needs, run RO before anything else, and you should be all set, unless, as Washell said your use of RO4 is dropping your reactor's hps below critical.

Anyone know if we still have to redeed ships to get disabled parts back online?

When have you had to redeed a ship to fix a component?

Anyway, I am under the impression that a functional component will start to lose efficiency when the HP is dropped to below half of the maximum. For a reactor with very little Armor and HP, the nasty RO4 damage could be causing it.

If you notice, when you attack NPC ships with the intention of slowing them down, their speed does not drop until the Engine is brought below 50%, and the speed seems to lower with the Engine condition after that point. My experienced with getting damaged hasn't proven that our ship parts work the same way, but it has convinced me it's true.

If you use a pilot skill that adjusts component parameters (for example, Emergency Shields) all your components get reset to normal performance when it expires. I have used this method in the past to recover from such positions.

Tried E thrust...don't seem to work for disabled interface.

What I meant was if you use Engine overload 4, Weapon Overload 4 before you use Reactor Overload 4 you disablemost your components (Including the droid computer). So you can't reset your systems back to normal.

The only way to fix this before was to remove all the componenets off a ship and redeed it. Have they fixed this problem?
