I am almost master pilot, jus tneed to finish up a mission quick, and i have a question about what kinds of ships are best for the freelance.

From what i've done so far i just don't really like the ships that are available for the freelance, htey seem to be too bulky and can't turn and keep up with the smaller ships that you fight. Is there a good ship that i have overlooked oris the only real light fighters that we get gonna be the jedi starfighter (or the other two, not sure if grieves or the other one are small or what not). It almost seems we are at a disadvantage in combat. Or does the YT-1300 with having people man guns or however it works keep us in the fight with the imperials and rebels smaller more agile ships

Krayt = firepower

I have around 16k total max damage on my krayt (before weapon overload) Its not the best turner, but with engine overload running I drop it down to half speed and i can run circles around any stationary object and keep up with black suns. The only ship I have a hard time turning to meet instantly is the a-wing.

I still fly my dunelizard all the time too. Its great in a dogfight and accellerates a lot quicker.

Although I dont have a ton of PvP experience, Ive only lost once between my krayt and dunelizard...so yes they can keep up with anyone I think.

From what I know (and I don't pretend to know the details) it looks like the RotW ships may become the ships of choice for many Freelance Pilots - those that can get their hands on them, at least. If nothing else, the new Black Sun ship should breathe some more life into the Freelance Pilot's ability to PvP in a small fighter.

Short of that, the Duneliz a decent ship at 85k and 2 weapon slots, but I'll admit the thing is over-sized. Style 1 instead of 2 helps, but .....

I've also flown the Kihraxz, with it's 40k mass (basic TIE comparable), successfully in PvP.

I am a Master Shipwright and Master Pilot (Corsec). I have a YT1300 and a Krayt. Shop around and pay a fortune if necessary to get a good reactor (high energy output and low mass) and a good capacitor (high energy output, low mass and low reactor drain). a good M/SW can RE some looted high-end parts and make a good set for you.

With those two parts you will have no problems fitting the best engine (with fast yaw...etc and speed) that will allow you to turn at nearly full speed and keep up with Opressors, A-Wings and the new Jedi ships. The new high mass, low end ships will give you some relief but will not help against the awsome fire power of the big master level ships. The Decimator, by far the best and most powerful ship, is a little clumsy to turn, but has 2 turrets and 2 missile launchers and an Ops seat. This means you have to defeat a crew of 4 all firing in different directions with gun damage in excess of 5K and missiles with damage well over 11K. The little ships just cant hurt their shields and with unlimited mass (usually over 5 million) they can fit armor that is virtually indestructable.

Stay with the big ships. Try to add a Firespray to you hanger. Very fast and lots of firepower.

I really like the Dunelizard. Handles well, small-ish target. TheKihraxz handles beautifully with an REd L6 reward engine, but its low mass and large profile make it less desirable. I think the Heavy Scyk will be the Freelance light-fighter-of-choice, but I have not flown one. Hopefully tonight.

I couldn't disagree more. While the POB ships are a lot of fun to use with a full crew they're terribly underpowered. If you and your friends justwant to have some fun in space hop into your YT and take a tier 4 mission, it's great. But don't think you'll be invincible, targetting is quite tricky and "virtually indestructable" armour and shields are somewhat of an overstatement.

As for PvPing in a POB ship, forget about it. You still can only take one or twohits before blowing up and your gunners will have a very hard time getting a hit on a decent pilot in a small fighter.

If you want a light privateer ship I recommend the Dunelizard. I used it extensively all the way up to master and then I got myself a Firespray. I recently got a Krayt as well, and that is one of the best all round ships out there in my opinion.

alright thanks for the info, i think i'll try out the new heavier scyk out.The scyk's and a-wings seem to be the biggest pain to hit and keep up with in turning during PvE. Scyk are always only level1 or so, so they go down in one shot, but they are agilelil' guys. I tried ouyt the dunelizard before and just couldn't figure out a good combination of weapons engine and what not to use in it, I have better equipment now and learned about the RE which didn't know in beginning so maybe i will like that. I looked at the Grevious fighter and saw that it seems to be a smaller ship, hopefully they have SW be able to make it and not have it justa quest ship so it can be made better. I don't want to fly around in a jedi starfighter considering i'm not one. I am a master bounty hunter so i could maybe write it out thatmy ship was destroyed going after a target and had to take his, but woudl prefer not to.

For a small profile light fighter it's going to be the jedi starfighter (or possibly GG ships)or the new heavy syck that shipwrights will be able to make wit RotWs.

Although if your just looking for maneurabilty and aren't worried about how big a target you are then the dunelizard and krayt are more then good enough to keep with anything in a PvE dogfight.
