No, disable and dock wont work because you have to like, continually fire the tractor beam at the freighter, I think, and your other equipped weapons go off and blow the thing before you ever collect the freight. Its a real pain in the arse. Ok, guys, keep trying, I know someone can answer this.

That's what I thought, too. When I do this though, the tractor beam repeatedly fires, and I get some combat spam saying something like Incremental whatever.... dozens of times, and then the freighter explodes. I'm not firing any conventional weapons and doing any damage to it. After it explodes, I get no messages, and when I land, my cargo hold is empty and I have the Mission Aborted message. Anyone else complete this successfully (in live, not beta testing?)

I was firing only the tractor beam, and doing no damage to the freighter. No ships ever attacked me. I got dozens of "Incrementing Count!" spam messages before the freighter blew up, and then nothing at all happened. grrrr....

I reported this bug as well...but I kept trying for another hour.... and finally it worked.

What you have to do is grab the mission, then TRAVEL TO CORELLIA (any starport) and launch from there. Get to the freighter, hit it with the tractor beam and you'll still get that damn "Incrementing Count!" message over and over, but a wave of fighters should come in. If you get enemy fighters, the mission will complete when the frieghter blows up from you tractoring it.

to recap -

1) get mission

2) travel to corellia starport of your choice

3) launch

4) use tractor beam only on frieghter

5) destroy in coming wave of fighters and continue tractoring freighter

6) repeat step 5 until freighter explodes

7) mission complete.

This method worked for me and 5 of my guildies without a hitch. Good luck!

I finally got the answer I needed, a fact that has somehow escaped me in the five (5) times I have mastered pilot. You can load the tractor beam onto, say, weapon slot 3, and then just press the 3 key on your keyboard to fire it only. Dont ask me how I didnt know this before.
