Tested again this morning same thing, tried this in 3 systems now, Dath, Endor, Corellia and the same thing.
I zoom out to 3rd person view (always have) and instead of a basic "bubble" effect when my shields are hit it's now amulti coloured "bubble" and laggy as hell. Thinking about it, this is the first time I've been up since b4 the CU went live so I know this is something different. This is a very definite effect, tested it by letting a Tier 3 blast away me and every hit it scored lagged me.
Can folks try this out and let me know what they find please because it's going to make high level space combat unplayable for me.

Double check all your graphics settings, since things got reset when the CU was implemented.

That is an understatement. Ive noticed the game options in the launchpad are reset each and every time. THings like vsync, to me are major Framerate killers.

After a bit of a break from it I went back up into space last night. Upon launching I noticed some new effects, targetting etc, no probs, they looked nice enough and made things quite tidy, no probs there. Then I jump into a small group, 4 or 5 ships, of Tier 4's and 5's and got a real nasty shock. Each time one of them fired and hit my shield it's doing this nasty coloured effect and lagging me for a second or more. Now as I recall, when I was last in space, there was a brief effect when your shields were struck but it never lagged me out. After about 30 seconds it was IFF Scramble and get out of there time, the combat was just not feasible.
I tried again just after that incident and the same thing. Problem is, although I can't see it affecting loot farming too much where everything gets pretty much 1 shotted, it's made high level combat nigh on impossible.
Is anyone else finding this ? If so is there anything that can be done about it ?

Were you in a nebula at the time? If so, the animation of the nebula effects plus 4 or 5 ships blasting you simultanious could cause a lag spike due to all the graphics happening at once.

Graphics settings are at their lowest and I'm not going mad, dragged some guildies up into space and they're all noticing the lag from the "Shield Hit" effect. It's worst when you go head on at 4-6 ships who all open fire at the same time.
Is no one else noticing this ?
