yes you need a chip for all the droid commands you dont know yourself - but CtSS is a privateer command, and as you're 3443 you'll have all the CtSS commands.
Id advise against putting it on a recursive macro - it will drain your capacitor even if you dont need the shield power, and if you run it constantly your capacitor will never get back to full charge. Plus, its usually better to time it strategically so you dont waste the energy transferred then get stuck waiting for it to cycle. I have it tied to a button on my joystick, so i can just quickly click to refresh my shields whenever they get down to about 25-50%. You have to make a macro for it or have it on your toolbar or something to map it to your joystick, though.

when jtl came out i got to 3443 privateer rather quickly and kind of abandon pilot until recently...i have banked about 2.5 mil in pilot xp, and really want to advance..especially since i have ships/parts i can't use yet.
my ship is a teir 3 ixiyen 95k mass..have a a 14k reactor, a 1100 cap. 1200 shields. 975 speed with overload 2..and 2 weapons that do about 2500 dam...for the mass i have i'd give the ship about a B+, yet the ship cannot hang well with a few agressive teir 4's...trouble is a i am having a really hard time with this mission//probably because most of my friends are imps, and the agressors on this mission are ties
it's the mission that starts in lok space..dock..hyper to dant..i can hyper to within 6k of the wp...i have been able to dock, but then there are 4 teir 4 ties that dispatch me rather quicky, and i have no chance of completing the third part..
i wonder if anyone could give me any tips on a good strategy to complete this mission with minimal help..any stories of how you did it would help
thanx

I completed this solo last night after a few attempts - I too havent been doing the pilot thing since I got stuck on this mission months back - Ive gone back to pilot after reading some useful info on here
My ship loadout is similar to yours except Im flying a Kimogila - the tank suits me
Up until yesterday I hadnt bothered ever trying any of the droid commands and they made a huge difference to me - I was struggling with 2 or 3 tier 3 - now with my droid programs I can go against 5 x tier 4 and barely get scratched.
For this mission your stuck on I had the following programs running (and started them in the below order before leaving the space station)
Reactor overload 3
Engine overload 3
Capacitor overload 3
Weapon overload 3
and run the following from the below macro when needed i.e. when approching a fight
Capacitor to shieldshunt 3
name the macro "shield"
/droid droidcommand_weaptoshieldthree;
/pause 15; (alter this number to the command speed of your flight droid)
/macro shield;
With this macro running your shieldshunt is always running and unless your really taking a battering keeps your shields up
Now I tried fighting my way through all the waves of fighters on this mission, I also tried just boosting past and ignoring the fighters - in the end I ended up doing a little of both.
If I remember right I just boosted past the first attack group on dant and docked, then fought through the 2nd wave, docked while being persued, used the iff transponder trick to fool the next big wave so they ignored me and docked for the third time. It got a little hairy a couple times when my front shields were gone - I just turned my rear shields to the ships and boost away till my front shields were back and re-engaged.
The biggest difference for me was using the droid commands - try running the above lvl 3 droid commands on the mission - I would bet you can finish the mission in a couple attemps with those running.
Good luck
