Thread: Space mining question?

Do the minable asteroids and type change like resourse on the ground or are they constant?

Their quality has been constant so far, and judging from the fact they don't have specific names (like, say, inoon or triwokesis or etc.), I'd guess it's planned to keep them that way.

Hello i just respec to master shipwright as my guild was in need of one and i have two accounts one for combat and one for crafting. First off since i respec i know i miss out on alot of knowledge you gain by grinding i've been a crafter before so i know this. But my question is what piloting skill you need to have a basic mining ship to mine. As it is hard to find space mined material and expensive to buy them when needed. Been working on my piloting but i'm far from master yet. I would appreciate any help on the subject thank you very much.

Im pretty sure that most small single fighters are capable of holding a small cargo hold. Look on the starship terminal under manage to see. if theres a slot for it then guess what.... you can mine with that ship. However, they are only able to carry a very small max load compared to the Y-8, but a few trips and you should get enough.

While it is true any pilot can mine I would suggest being at least tier 2 or 3 for widescale mining, you can mine as a tier 1 pilot in corellia, tatooine or naboo space, but as you move on to the other resources which are in more dangerous systems the spawns of asteroid bandits will be probably too powerful for you.
The pilot quest for the Y-8 can be done as a tier 3 pilot, although you may want help for some of it.

You say the Pilot Quest for the Y-8 can be done as a tier 3.. but dont you have to be a Master pilot to use it? (or did they change that at some point??)

Yes, you still have to me a Master to use the ship, but you recieve the deed no matter what your Pilot skill. He was refering to the difficulty of the opposition during the quest. There are some Tier 5 Asteroid Bandits in Kessel, if I'm not mistaken.
