Thread: Imperial on the ground/smuggler in space will it work?

I'm just curious and forgive me if I don't have the patience to wait for the search option start working again. I am a tier 3 smuggler grinding my first tier 4 box who just recently joined with the imperials on the ground. I've read that smugglers alliance is pretty much rebel aligned and the corvette mission is for an Imperial Corvette? I'm guessing I will not be able to damage it being an Imperial on the ground correct? So my best bet for a pilot faction is gonna be Corsec or RSF?

What you can damage in space is solely dictated by your pilot profession. No worries about being a ground Imperial for the mission (except any Imperial friends may not be able to help you). Just bite the bullet and dont throw away your work. Pretend that this crew is stocked with Imperial traitors, and you are undercover.

Works Perfectly, i am too, but:

1) All Imperial Ships you hit accidentally, like when helping an Imperial Friend on a Escort mission, see you as Enemy, Imps can hit their own Ships, but cant Damage them.

2) With Tier 4 and Master Pilot Mission: Imperial cant help, as you go sometimes against Imperial Ships, Esp the Imp Corvette, get Rebel or Neutral (non RSF) Friends to help you there.

3) You can Attack any NPC.

Apart from the RP-Compromise with the Imperial Corvette... Why not be a Person with Smuggler Background (Smuggler, Having Learned Fylying with Smugglers Alliance), that becomes Imperial, but keeps her Skills?

CorSec has the same situation when hitting rebel or imp ships, they both see you as an enemy. iff scramble usually takes care of that just fine.

Smuggler's Alliance Pilots cannot shoot Hutt's. CorSec cannot shoot other CorSec. RSF cannot shoot other RSF or IMP.

My alt is just that, an Imperial Major-Master Smuggler on the ground and Master Pilot with Smuggler's Alliance. Once you get to the upper tier missions you will be forced to engage Imperial vessels and as one of the people already mention in this thread, you can accidently shoot Imperial vessels in space and they will fight back. Best way around this last part is to declare I do this all the time now so I don't have to worry about clipping a friend's escort mission target plus you still get the fp.

Good luck on taking the vette on though. You really will need severalotherneutral/rebelpilots to take that one on. I can solo the thing with my main imperial pilot but as a hundred other posts will point out, it is only because of bomber strike.

Corsec get's to choose wheather or not their final master missions are against imperials or rebels. Dunno about RSF or smuggler.

None of the 3 Freelance squads can earn FP in space.

edit: to further answer, you can hunt rebels, yes, but won't receive FP as Freelancer.

Dang . The reason I ask is because I am a on my way to becoming an Imperial armorsmith and was looking for a way to raise faction points.

So finish your freelance profession, drop and do one of the Imperial squads. (Keep in mind the Storm Squad out of Bestine can be very tough in tier 3 and 4, mostly tier 3)

BE is alot harder then storm, what storm does have going for it, is making me fall asleep trying to finish the boring escort missions. Each Faction has a squad like storm that has "too many" escorts.

Storm / Smugglers / Vortex <---- yawn....

Really? Black Epsilon was supposed to be hard? Tier 3 was a bit tough, but tier 4 was cake! Still not looking forward to Storm though (esorts... eugh...).

Corrected. Freelance pilots that are members of a ground faction can declare at an aligned station and earn faction, just like anyone else... gee Zanholo you didn't know that?
