Thread: Tractor beam stealth nerf?

So I was out mining last night and had a nasty surprise. I can no longer keep my tractor beam on and fire my mining lasers at the same time.

Did I set something up wrong? I've tried a few different placements but nothing seems to work. My mining ship is a standard X-Wing, which IMO works great mounting 2 Mark III mining lasers on the wings and the 3rd slot is the tractor beam. Atleast, it used to work great. Now my tractor beam shuts off when I fire the lasers....

Are you firing the lasers manually (as in pressing 1 and 2 on your keyboard) are you are using the trigger to fire them as normal? If you're using the trigger that's what happening, since it's cylcing to the tractor beam and turning it off when you "fire" it. You need to manually shoot your mining lasers and use toggle on your tractor beam.

Or you could just remove the tractor beam from your weapons groupings. It'll fire from the toggle even if it's not selected.

or just change your joystick keymap. I have my trigger set to "fire weapon group 1" rather than "fire and cycle current weapon group", so i can just stick all my projectile weapons in group 1, and my ordnance in group 2. You can stick your tractor in group 2 instead, and map a thumb key or base key on your joystick to "fire weapon group 2", so you could do both simultaneously.

Ok, all better. I had my joystick set to Fire Group 1 on the trigger, but not on the mouse, which is what I've been using for a couple weeks now. I like the accuracy more.

Rebound my mouse1 button to Fire Group 1 like on the joystick, works like a charm now. Thanks guy!
