Has anyone had any luck using a tractor beam on a Y8? Besides not being able to get one to work, I've noticed another bug.

If you put a quest tractor beam on W0, it puts it on the top turret. If you put a crafted beam on W0, it puts it on top of W2. Going into the top turret will give you a reticle but you can't turn or fire the beam.

Is everyone having these issues? Has anyone had any success with a Y8 and tractor beams?

Ghost, that means you can mine solo?

I have yet to get any POB ship to be able to mine solo. It seems that if I don't have a pilot noth'g works. And I ahve tried every concievable position for both lasers and tractors. I use only crafted stuff since I am a SW. Maybe there has been a patch since I last tried.

I use an elite laser in the top turret, tractor beam in the pilot seat, and a defense gun in the rear turret. Works great for me when I have someone to man the top turret. Solo I just move the tractor beam and the elite and go to town. It takes a bit of practice to use, but it's great when you master it. Remember to keep the beam aligned with the chunk the whole time (you should see a blue disk around the chunk if you're doing it right. Nine times out of ten you'll suck it up into the hold if you've got the disk around it at about 70m. If it flies through the ship just turn around and nab it again before it gets far away and you should have it.

I can mine pretty fast using this set-up, espescially with the elite mining laser which breaks chunks off with one blast, and sometimes two chunks at a time. Three blasts and you'll be surrounded by little chunks.

I can mine just fine solo in the Y8. Put the mining laser in w2 and the pilot shoots it, then just toggle on the tractor beam (default is the 6 key). The tractor beam seems not to work no matter what I try. I've tried a quest beam and a crafted beam in both w0 and w1 and they just don't seem to pick anything up. The only way I can mine is by blowing things to small pices, which takes longer since you gather less.

The other thing I've noticed is when I try putting a crafted tractor in w0 and turn it on, I can see the beam coming out of the rear turret and the w2 front cannon.
