Thread: Which config would you use for an Xwing?

So im sitting here daydreaming with what i coud do with a 100K mass, 3 hardpoint chassis.
Here's what ive boiled it down to:
--------
Config A:
L6 Engine, 68 YPR, 85 speed.
Two L8 3800 blasters, and one L7 2900 damage blaster
Results:
1.2 Chassis YPR turn rating
one L8 * 0.6 = 2280 * 2 = 4560 + (one L7 (2900 * 0.6 =1740) ) = 6300 damage

OR
----------
Config B:
L8 Engine, 74 YPR, 95 speed
Three L7 2900(3000) damage blasters.
Results:
1.3 Chassis YPR turn rating
2900 * 0.6 = 1740 * 3 guns = 5220
---------------
So i think the trade off would be this:
Which would you rather have, 1080 more damage or more manuverablty?
offhand i think im leaning on config B for more manuverablity and a faster cornering velocity. That said, 1080 extra damage in config A, is *almost* like having a 4th gun at L6 or so.

well the X is a PvE ship, so the extra PYR probably wont help you as much as the extra firepower. I'd go with the L6 engine and pack on as much heat as you can

My old X-Wing (Huckleberry)
Reactor: RE'd looted Level 1 900 (!!!) mass 13.6K (!!!!) output
Capacitor: Re'd looted Level 2 1000 mass 40.9 Recharge 1020 Capacity
Weapons: 3 RE'd Level 7 guns with approximate stats of 1800-2800 damage, 0.65/0.65 eff, 0.31-0.33 refire, ~20 energy/shot, 15K mass per gun.
Shield: RE'd Reward Shield, Level 8, 30K Mass, 2555/2555 hitpoints, 15.0 recharge rate
Armor: 400 hp, 1800 mass for front and back
Engine: RE'd pre-Nerf Reward Engine: 9K Mass, ~70 YPR, 95.9 speed
Droid Interface: RE'd pre-Fix Level 1 DI: 490 Mass, 14.1 speed
Booster: RE'd Level 4 Reward Booster ~3K Mass(Forgot the exact stats)
Droid Programs: RO3, CO4, EO4, WO3
I plan on doing all 3 Imperial Squadrons to get enough Boltdrivers to RE into 3020 max damage guns for the X-Wing.

My setup is very similar to Coran's except I have an REd level 6 gun that does 2800 damage and only weighs 10k mass.

I haven't tweaked my layout in a while, but im prefectly happy with the damage output from x2 L6 RE guns and an L7 RE.

I agree. The X-wing has considerable speed and maneuver by itself, the extra speed can be covered with an engine overcharge3. since shields and armour arent a factor in this choice, i would go with the firepower.

In normal PvE id agree. In overt PVE, FP grnding however i don't agree. Only reason id use an Xwing overt at all is because it can kill quicker than an A wing. Quicker kills = more FP, more cash, more parts over time.
An Xwing with a good engine is about as manuverable as an A wing with a reward engine that hasnt been RE'd yet. Now granted your a big target anyway, but why make it easier for em?
