Hello, I have recently been flying an interceptor and have purchased a tie advanced on promotion to Tier 4 (yeah!) but what I've noticed is.....well after flying an interceptor a tie advanced is just not gonna cut it on handling. I mean I can't tail an a wing for anything in that ship! Combine that with the fact that the tie advanced only gives 20K extra mass and REALLY lags- it's looking like a loser. So, and the answer is probably no, is there another imp ship that can give me at least enough manuverability to tail an a a wing in a group of say 4 of 'em and not get picked off(due to incredibly slow turning)and give me some more mass to play with? Orshould I just stick with the interceptor and do countless run after run on rebel battle cruisers......slowly whittling their shields down over an hour? I guess what my question is...is what's the best single player ship?

well, unless the FAQ is wrong on stats, the two are identical on handling. I can't comment since I've never flown Imp, but if that's true, then we can probably help you better if you post your engine stats. Those have far more control over your ability to tail than the spaceframe, in most cases.

I've equipped the same components (minus one gun of course) from my Advanced to my Interceptor and I swear the Interceptor maneuvers better than the Advanced. Sometimes I have to drop the throttle just a bit to tail a Tier 5 A-wing with the Advanced but when I'm in the Interceptor, I just leave it full throttle (unless the A-wing decides to slow down).

Well, that is one consideration, the "maxturn" speed may be different in the advanced. It probably does have the same turning mods, just at a lower throttle than the Interceptor. I'll accept that as one difference, but with a good engine that can exceed most NPCs when overloaded, you will actually prefer that lower maxturn value. I know I do in my Xwing over my Awing. Here's why:
I'm faster than everything except the fastest droid fighters. I slot behind and matchspeed. In the Awing, this makes my turns more sluggish, and its harder to stay on the lead and score hits. In the Xwing, 80-85% throttle improves my turns, and lets me go exactly as fast as the target, yet turn inside him, staying on lead, and being far more deadly. That's just my experience in Rebel craft, but I'm willing to bet the scenario equates for these two ships.

Im fairly certain it is. Its about 90% throttle. In a T/I ive had it at 90% and wide open and didnt notice much of a difference. In a T/A you notice a slight difference.

I think you may be mistaken. Both the Tie Interceptor and Tie Advanced have very similar performance...the only real change is more mass on the Tie Advanced.

Yeah you guys are right....I haven't checked the boards in a bit and did some adjusting to my tie advanced...as I knew it was near impossible to take on tougher targets with an interceptor. I slowed down on the throttle and I was back on track with the A wings and I can handle a group of 3 droid fighters with only mild difficulty......however with more than 3 I still can't tail and avoid hits as well as in my Tie/int....solution...I avoid droids.
They *are* comparable but I still feel that tiny bit of lag .........my guns make up the difference however
so no biggie.
