Hey I'm running up the Imperial Inquisition Squad and have come across the last mission in tier 3 and its seems like a bit much..

After killing a Lambda shuttle (which anyone in the squad knows is a standard thing), then escort (also normal), you come across 4 allied ships and need to take down 10 rebel fighter (5 A-wings, 4 X-wings, and 1 Y-wing), then they send you out to kill a rebel gunboat with a 6 X-wing escort.

1st off in anyone has solo'ed this i commend you, its a nightmare

if anyone has could you fill me in on the stratagy you used to takle the gunboat and escorts, it may just be a simple case of me being in far underpar equipment (Tie/IN) or that i'm doing something completely wrong...

first off you should come from behind the escort group and gunboat take the escort by suprise the will fly forward to turn on u ... at that time disable the gunboat from benethe and to the rear easy pickings once disabled go after the escort after the escort is done kill the gunboat... this way you not getting pounded by fighters...if all else fails /tel me in game and ill help ya out.

that would be mighty hard, as you're on bloodfin and he's on bria lol.

I couldn't solo this one, I needed some big guns and bstrike3

I've found that in each squad so far, there's been an un-soloable mission, and you just found the one for II lol.

Give us a yell when you're up for it, and I'll see what I can do.

I have been soloing all of the pilot missions as well, and I have gotten stuck at the same final tier 3 Imp mission. If anyone on Sunrunner is willing to help I would appreciate that. My ship chassis is almost gone from doing this mission.

You can solo it. It took me about 9-10 tries, but I did.

What I did was:
- Get a high regen shield
- Target the guns on the gunboat
- Come at the gunboat, trying to stay below the nose as you charge in
- Fire and boost out of there
- Let your shields regen
- Once the guns are gone, kill the engine
- Once the engine is gone, kill the escorts
- Once the escorts are gone, kill the gunboat

If you need to break aggro on the gunboat, you can hyperspace within the system. I don't recall what the closest hyperspace point is. Breaking aggro is a really useful way to complete a mission without getting chased all over the system.

The order is important. If you kill the gunboat, your next mission is to kill the escorts, but if you don't have enough time, they hyper out. That's why you disable rathe than kill the gunboat.

When approaching a gunboat that's hankering to blow you to bits, keep aiming for just under the nose while you approach, and always exit via the gunship's belly (where it has no guns). You can do multiple passes this way with little damage.

For what its worth i completed the Inq. Squad a couple of weeks ago and this exact mission is one i remember well. As far as taking out the gunboat there are many posts on that and i suggest you give those a look, and if you want go practice taking them out in kessel to get the feel of what everybody is talking about and use which ever bomber strike you have available to you. Another suggestion is to use that annoying "camera follow target button" i think it is you num lock button by default to notice were you are in relation to the gunboat this makes it easier to egress and set up for another run on the gunboat. I was able to get to 4/4/4/3 in the Inq, squad solo and for the life of me i could not get by that last mission until i had a discussion with a friend of mine that plays JTL as well. All the way up the Imp ladder i really never took advantage of the flight computer. Especially, chips like reactor overload, capac overload and shunt cap to shields (freelance programs) all these gems have made my life so much eaiser (as by design) yet i never used them. If you can (no you need to get) get those chips and use them, i run reactor/cap overload weapon overload, engine overload everytime i boot, think of them as buffs in space, which they are. Hotkey (for me joystick button 4) shunt to shield, and hit it when you need to "heal" your shields, when you are running cap overload 3 your never more than seconds away from fireing a shot because you cap recharges so fast. Overall, i play most of SWG on the ground, yet i really enjoy JTL, and to be honest i overlooked the use of the flight computer and made my life miserable for many missions, dont make my mistake ..

Cheers

Yeah took me a while to figure out to get a flight computer as well, i will need to take a look at cap overload and shield one..

I find that disabling the escort before taking on the bigger ships has helped me in the past, alot of people seem to like it the other way around thats interesting.

I must say that comming up on the gunboat was a bit of a shock, coming from underneath, front or back seems like a logical option

Thanks for all the great advice...

The worst is yet to come. That 4.4 mission with the mondo gunboat at the end was the toughest. Ouch!!! For all the tough missions, I did a writeup of it so that others would know. I'm sure that my writeup of the 4443 mission is still out here on the forums.

One more piece of advice: if you can make friends with an Oppressor, do so. I helped a guy with this mission a few months back in my Oppressor. That gunboat actually dropped my shields to 1/3 before it blew up. And that was a head-to-head firefight. Most folks aren't so lucky.
