ok someone help me out here please? I'm a master freelance pilot, and I want to go overt and go to Deep Space so that I get FP for killing imp starfighters. I went overt, and then went to the station in Dantooine (rebel aligned). I have well over 300k prestige and the station says I dont ahve enough to get to deep space (I believ ethe amount is 30k). I went to the station in Dathomir which is the one I've been using to go to kessel. that one wont let me use it when I'm overt, it says rebels are not welcome there. the third station which is in endor is imperial aligned so obviously I cant use that one either.

Is there ANY way at all taht I can get to Deep Space when I'm overt? it seems such a waste of a chance to get excellent FP.

You don't get overt on the ground. Just fly to dath station, it will ask you which side you want to join.

Remeber you have to redeed you're ship to become space neutral again.

Price you pay for being able to shoot both sides under normal circumstances I guess.

I'm not saying I disagree with you, but ingame terms I justify it that pilot factions wouldn't encourage pilots outside thier "navy" by ganting factionstanding for work inthe (theoretical) front line position. They'll gladly improve your standing by doing support work in other sectors, but why undermine morale their own starfighter corps by allowing equal opportunity for advancement to any guy with a spaceship?

He went overt at a faction space station, not the ground.Inhis case the dath station wont let him into deep space like that. if he went to dath station undeclared, then he would fight as a rebel/imp, but gain no faction points, which is what he wants.

The redeeding is only necessary to regain the ability to shoot all targets in Kessel, anywhere else you are neutral.

I'm pretty sure you can't get overt being a freelance pilot in space.

And since you have no faction in space you can't get FP in space even if you join a side in deep space.

you CAN get overt as a freelance pilot. I've done it. but it's preventing me from going to Deep Space and Kessel where all the Tier 5 ships are. the Rebel station for Deep Space says I dont have enough Prestige because apparently rebels have Rebel Prestige whereas I just have Pilot Prestige. the station in Dath doesnt seem to welcome rebels so I cant use that station at all when I'm overt.

the rationale behind not being able to go overt and get FP does make sense, but if I can go overt in regular space I should be able to in Deep Space too...

Well you're wrong then.
You can go overt in space, if you're factioned on the ground. Ground Imperials can go overt Imps in space and Rebels as rebels. Civilians can't go overt.
Civilians are the only one who can choose a side in DS either.
If someone is factioned on the ground he/she can only choose that faction for DS.

So a gound Imperial can only choose to go overt as imperial, he can only choose to go to DS as imperial, but he can't choose to go to DS as overt imperial.

You never say where you get overt. I'm a rebel on the ground and freelance in space.I can get overt on the ground and go in space, but i still be a freelance pilot.

Don't confuse ground and space, theyare different.

When you are in space being freelance, you are considered civilian with NO FACTION.

As a rebel on ground and a freelance in space, you can declare your faction at any rebel station rebel pilots can delcare at as well, and you will be overt in space, able to gain faction points from shooting TIEs. It works in any sector with the exception of Deep Space.

The trouble with Deep space is that if you are overt as a freelancer, the freelancer station (Last Nav in Dathomir) won't deal with you. The rebel station however expects rebel prestige to let you enter Deep Space - and as a freelancer, even declared as rebel, you only earn prestige points, not rebel prestige. Same deal for freelancers that are imperials.

The only person confusing the ground and space is you MisterTke. We never brought it up, and we're trying to explain to YOU what the issue is, since you're the one confused.

psikobunny, your explanation about letting everyone and tehir brother gain standing in the military when they're not affiliated does make sense. and I'm even gonna ignore the fact that I'm a rebel on ground. I just think that it's dumb that I can go overt in the regular space sectors and get faction, but I cant for DS. to me it kinda shoots down your theory, logical though it may be.
