Thread: Ok, so let me get this Elite thing straight......

Wow...I thought I was a whiner about this patch. Seriously....get a grip? Did you expect a personal deposit to your bank account to make up for it? Or would you have been happier if they never made the change at all?
You can't really claim it cost you a small fortune...the cost of these parts is minimal at best to a pilot. Especially if you're friends with a shipwright (and what good pilot isn't friends with one, or a shipwright themselves?) and mine the rocks yourself.
Sheesh. For a moment there I actually felt bad for the devs.
While I sympathize, it's consistent with every change the Devs have made to ship parts so far, except for a very few right after launch (as in the first couple of days).
The reason for it is simple. Database purge and replace of legacy data isn't easy in swg, and it can lead to problems like what happened to Europe-Chimera when the CU hit. Thus, they avoid them whenever they can, and I don't really fault them for that.
On the bright side, they improved Space mining rates markedly (and cut the resource requirements for POB parts) so you should have little or no trouble mining the needed resource for new parts.
Ease off man, that was overly harsh. Also, any honorable player would never sell stuff known to be crap to a newbie, that's just mean.

Pub 24 is telling me that Elite components now have 3x the armor and hitpoints of the old Elite stuff.............but only on NEW elite items. So, basically, the old Elite stuff that I had a buddy save is useless, no better than level 7 or 8 gear.Gee, thanks, SOE. I spent a small fortune getting some good, elite gear for my YT, now you junk it on me, so I have to buy more.Yes, I came back..............now I wonder why. One month into playing again, and I get ground back to square one.Message Edited by Twitchie on 10-19-2005 09:30 PM
Yeah, sorry, but in this case they did tell us ahead of time. Given the CU conversion, I'm not sure I'd want them to try and convert anything.

So yeah, I have friends, and I just ground up to 4422 privateer, but it's pretty depressing to have to redo the work I thought was already done. And yeah, it's a bit of a beach to find out the stuff you put aside turns out to be crap when you come back.
Hey, if that's your take I agree with you. It does suck to have to replace it all...just don't be hollerin' at SOE for it.
