hi guys, i was wondering if anyone had any advice on takeing out gunboats, the mission i'm on requires me to take out 3 or 4 gunboats that are constantly turning. i last about 3 seconds when i try to take one out. and all of them except one are bunched together so if i was to go after one in the bunch one of the others would make swiss cheese out of me. plus i just suck at takeing out gunboats, i die everytime i go after one, and that makes me dread the vett hehe. anyways i'm grateful for any advice

You're either talking about the Cyssc mission, the T3 exit mission for Black Epsilon, or the twin-gunboat/twin-Novae Storm Squadron mission.
In either case, they're tough missions, and I've at least gotta give you props for trying them solo. Most people nowadays don't even go that far before expecting someone to do it for them.
In short, there's no real simple way to fight odds like these other than to make use of Cap Overload 3 plus Cap to Shield Shunt 3/4 (depending on what you can fit in your current level DI/Astromech). Use these correctly and you just might live long enough solo.
Other than that, get help, preferably from pilots that know how to fly - not ones that were towed up the tiers by people who deserve their title.

yeah it's the second or 3rd misssion for teir 4 corsec i'm a 4434 corsec and just trained the xxx4 so i guess it's the 3rd mission, hehe yeah the whole mission up untill the gunboats is easy then i get to them and die really fast, i was hopeing to solo it and still might try a few times. i've read over some posts on how some of you guys have your ships set up so i think i'll change my loadout and stock up on some protrons and give it a few more tries if not i got a friend with a deci that could help me. anyways thanks for the help. oh quick question should i take down the sheilds or the guns first on them(if i ever make it far enough to choose)

I remember THAT mission ... 2 gunboats, 10 fighters. If you can get anybody familiar with taking out gunboats in Kessel to help, it shouldn't be too hard. Just aggro everything (and if everything doesn't aggro, then just pull off whatever follows you and defeat in detail) and have them swing around wide to take out the gunboats, they're following you so it's no more difficult than the straight and level gunboats in Kessel. Just keep out of range of the fighters while they do, or if you can't stand to do that, get at least 3k from the gunboats before turning to fight for a SHORT time. Otherwise, I think the only thing for it is to try not to face everything at the exact same time and make strafing runs against one of the two gunboats, hitting the engines.

cool i'll try that, i managed to take out one of the weapons on one of the gunboat then i got disabled hehe. ok on the strafeing runs is that in any of the guides on how to do that, i'm still pretty noobish and don't really understand what that is and how to excute it which is probably my main problem when it comes to dealing with gunboats. i've tried going to kessel to pratice on them that way i'm ready for the vett but they always kill me. found one lone gunboat yesterday all by his self and i figured i could take him but nope got owned with the quickness. but yeah i give my buddie a shout this evening and get him to help and i'll do what you said so hopefully we can take em out. thanks again
