I have 2 Aces, both Imp ground, 1 Imp and 1 freelance in space.

The Imp/Imp one has no problem declaring/entering DS through endor Imperial Claw. The freelancer however, can get to DS through Last Nav station in Dath system only if she's not declared. The Neutral station wont talk to me if I'm declared Imperial, and ofcourse Imperial Claw wont talk to me because I dont get Imperial Prestige for kills, I get pilot prestige.

What am I doing wrong here?

Nothing, it seems to be designed that way. Freelancers can't get faction in DS.

Yep you really have to go to kessel for fp. One possible way to bypass that might be to level up imp pilot and store alot of imp prestige then drop it and level privateer, im not sure if you loose prestige when you drop pilot.
