I'm a very new Rebel pilot (1,1,1,1) that just bought this game this week. In the beginning it was accumulating rebel faction for doing missions etc. It climbed to 200, I joined the ground forces and got my first promotion.
Since then I've killed many Tie-fighters in space and my faction has been stuck at 190. Should they grant faction? Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks for the help, this game only comes with a leaflet and I'm having trouble deciphering the acronyms on the forum!
Help me Obi-wan Kenobi, you're my only hope!

i'm pretty sure you need to find a rebel space station an declare yourself and in doing so you'll go pvp but i think that will grant you fp off of kills. i'm not real sure about this as i'm a freelance pilot so i never see and fp in space.

You do need to declare at a factional station in space to be able to get faction points. NOTE: this will make you attackable by opposite factioned players who have also declared. Hitting the "Z" key in space will bring up any enemy PLAYER targets within range of your sensors.
EDIT: Freelance pilots can also declare overt in space if they have a ground faction.

Yup, after you launch, if you want faction points, you need to go overt. There are Rebel stations in Corellia, Lok, Dantooine, and Kashyyyk.
Just remember, being Overt means you can be shot at by other players. Some people are willing to listen if you say "I'm just gaining faction, don't kill me please" but personally, I'm not one of them
