Ok I've heard something about repairing in deep space or after you leave results in no item decay? How exactly does this work? any particular station after leaving?

thanks psiko, I just tried it out... hypering out of the system repaired everything no decay! very nice =)

One more question on this... if you happen to get pasted while in deep space, when you respawn outside, do you get the same full repair, and is this regardless of a PVE/PVP death in DS?

The same benefits apply - whether you leave voluntarily, or in atom-sized chunks.

And there's not even any wounds/BF anymore, so it behooves you to stick around and look around for someone to play with.

Yeah I like these changes combined with how DS works... even if you are a complete newb to PVP, you can go in there and have fun w/o killing all your gear and getting black barred... makes things fun! I plan on being a target soon!

Some people have an issue with some things not being repaired upon being blown to bits in DS. If that happens, just pop back in to DS for a second, there's still no decay.

I've been too busy collecting the loot that will seal the fates of every Rebel-aligned pilot on Eclipse. If you thought I was tough before...then ya ain't seen nuthin' yet.

And engaging someone in the middle of an ISD takedown...*that* sounds like quite a good idea.

Also, I don't like arranging duels. Boxing promoters do that, real pilots have chance encounters. Besides, people who have challenged me to duels in the past haven't exactly fared well. Speedbird One has been designed from the ground up over the past seven months, even before ROTW was announced, to be the ultimate PvP platform. The entire ship is designed for maximum survivability and maneuverability, blending the DPS of an above-average Heavy X-Wing into a ship that's half the mass. I would have been able to eventually adapt her components to a TIE Advanced, but fate handed me a JSF.

It was further optimized for multi-ship engagements (as I've never beaten my personal best of three successful three-on-one engagements), as the staggerfire twin-gun setup is specifically designed to disable and/or destroy quickly, as well as giving very little propensity for dreaded "skirt" hits. Both blasters are .370, and the way I fire them, is one right after the other - so in essence, at optimal rate, I'm firing at a rate of .185 - witnesses have described the effect as almost machinegun-like.

But the initial build of Speedbird was flawed. I was using an older L6 as my secondary (don't let the level fool you, it puts out more DPS per second than a Boltdriver), a half-depleted L6 reward engine, and a less-than-stellar L8 main weapon. So in essence, I've been using a less-than-optimal loadout for the past two months - I was using equipment designed for a 65k mass ship in a 90k mass ship - nothing felt right.

But that's not gonna be the case in these next few weeks. Speedy's getting a hefty overhaul. I'm one weapon away from a new and far deadlier main, I've got a reward L6 engine on tap that will make Tomo's "The One" L6 cower in fear in every category except possibly drain and mass (both of which won't be off by TOO much), and a *nice* little L7 that you're all just gonna love, which will fire so goddamned fast your head will spin that REed weapons could come in speeds that low. And why an L6 engine? Because I don't run, and I enjoy knowing that I'm taking people down who are flying with potentially superior Nym engines in an old November '04 prenerf.

So just realize you're asking to be locked in a tight room with a starving rattlesnake. Don't get pissed when (note the absence of the word 'if') you get bitten. I haven't been PvPing because I don't want to...I haven't been PvPing because you all need to learn you shouldn't have poked the bear in the first place.

(I also haven't been in DS as much because I've been shaking the bugs out of a separate PvE-specific supership that truly redefines the word 'ludicrous' as well.)

Also, some people don't know how decay works in non-DS settings.

If you die in a decay-giving area, merely ask the starbase to repair the minimum amount to get you moving again. Decay is based on 10% of the amount repaired, so if you decay your engine down to zero from 500 points, you'll lose 50 points upon repair.

If you go for the minimum amount, then visit DS, you'll lose much less.
