Which mission is this? Mayabe you're suppose to escort or something instead.

What mission/squadron are you on?

Only thing I can think of to help you is that some missions you don't have to dock (even when it says dock). Are you Storm Squadron by any chance?

After you disable the ship (are you disabling the engines using the bracket ( [ and ] ) keys?) just fly close to it and wait a few minutes to see if you get the message that you've captured the ship.

Also, as a side note, your Quest journal will explain almost exactly what you need to do, and how. Full instructions on disabling and docking, if that's what the mission calls for.

also sometimes i've noticed on missions like this if you just disable the engien it won't let you dock but if you disable the engien and the reactor it will let you dock.

Uboo, if I understand correctly, its a mission where you have to disable and dock? Its one of two things, you disable and dock to get some data, or you disable and the game will autoupdate that the crew took over the ship, etc.

Make sure you use the brackets [ or ] to cycle throught the ships systems. It will show in red where the ship condition is, engine, reactor, or weapons. Once it cycles onto engine or reactor, than lay into it. Other wise you arent fully disabling the ship, and can actually just blow it up. Let us know how you make out.

Also, don't forget that if you target anything else before trying to dock, you will have to retarget the disabled ship before trying to dock with it.

You only need to take out one of Engine or Reactor, but you need to take that one out FULLY, and with fire targetted on that specific component ... I've seen ships with no Reactor to speak of left that lost it to ordinairy hits, and they're still operational ... and ships with no Engines to speak of that just sit there forever (very useful on Escort missions if you don't want to fight too much). You can only disable if you try to disable.

if you get a mission where you need to dock and you get denied most likely it's not you that has to dock with the ship but a droid or engineer team. fly over 1km away and return to the ship, when you get close you'll prolly get a system message along the lines of "droid has begun docking with ship X".

I have successfully docked my ship. The key fact I didn't know about was the [ or ] lol. As soon as I targeted the engine and disabled it, I was able to dock and complete the mission. Thanks to all of you help me.

You're welcome. Just be sure to check yout Quest journal on missions more often, intructions you may miss from the NPC or mission spams will always be there to check.
