Thread: Anyone notice anything different about ship AI?

There is also some sort of "lag" in all parts of SWG that causes some people to experience a sort of "jerk" every several second whether on ground or in space.. this makes NPC ships jump around really oddly and makes space combat almost impossible.

There have been no changes to the ship AI. Everything you see has to do with the increased latency system wide. Fly during offtime in a "normal" sector, and everything is exactly as we're used to. It has everything to do with graphics overload, and nothing to do with stealth code changes.
QFE.
Damn astroid chunks are really chockin the server i think.

I dont think it was this, everything was running smooth on my computer, its just the ships are turning, accelerating, and decelerating almost instantly. They used to fly around in circles and other patterns, but now they are making 90 degree turns instantly while rapidly changing speeds, which makes them almost impossible to shoot. It took me 2 minutes to kill a tier 2 Dunelizard with a X-Wing with Tier 5 weapons.
What we are seeing i think, is AI mobs warping around a little as a result.

To be more specific, i think the servers are having trouble tracking all these Mobile Objects. Astroid chunks, mobs, players.

Thats what I figure it is as well. Too much strain on the servers to keep up. Hopefully they'll upgrade or do something else to make due.
Ya, I understand what you guys are getting at. I too get this clunky feel in space combat. Almost like the NPC's are on a badly made rollercoaster track that has sharp direction changes. It makes it seem like they can turn on a dime.

I don't think AI ships keeping up with you when you booster is the same as it was, and I don't ever remember NPC ships hyper-jumping to a new spot in the same system with me before. I've never seen a gunboat keep up with me either.
So, while I will concede the insta-flips and odd flight patterns may be the result of lag and other net code problems, the other things I've mentioned are definitely bugs.
