what is a good way to get more xp if i am a 2 1 1 1 on piloting for the empire. what is a good way to become a tier two and then a tier three

Well I've never done this, but I'm helping my friend do it; Get in the turrent of any ship and have a friend pilot the ship in kessel or DS, the experience is great for tiers 1-3, really even 4.
